I am think of getting a K100D Super, now should I wait until January for the K200 announcement (prices may drop or I may fall for the K200D) or should I get it now? My third option could be getting a second hand K100D as a stop gap? Decisions; decisions. Helppppppppppp!

I have a Fuji S6500 at the moment. My wife want to get me something for Christmas. I may just have to wait a month.

I have a K100 and love it . The pictures are beautiful . I will never be a GREAT Photographer but I sure have a lot of FUN .

To the Point , I bought my Camera because of internal image stabilization and the fact that it uses AA Batteries . If the K--- is a major improvement , I will buy one .

If you already have a camera that will hold you until The K--- is introduced , I would wait .

Why not go ahead and get the K10D? After rebate, you can get the kit for around $625 or the camera only for around $550.

The addtional features, wireless flash, dual thumb wheels, 10.2 mp, & etc. make it a steal.

I don't think there's a rebate on body only. You would need to get a kit to get rebate.

Hello:

The $100 rebate is good for body only even though the rebate states K10D kit...But it does not state any lens...I contacted Pentax and they told me the body only qualifies...

If you look at the 19091 number on the rebate this is actually the same number for the camera body only whereas 19092 is the kit......Again the word kit is misleading but then we're dealing with rebates...:(

A few thoughts occur:

If you can get a used K100D enough cheaper than a super to make it worthwhile, I might. But I think you can get new K100D bodies cheaply (and have a warranty). All the super adds is the (effective) flourine sensor coating and (ineffective) sensor shaker. Both are dust-control measures. Oh, and SDM lens support, also, if you intend to use lenses that cost twice what a K100D does.

Do understand the basic nature of the cameras, too. Both the K100D and K10D take great pictures, with the K100D punching way above its weight where image quality is concerned. The K100D is also extremely spartan, with slow processing, shallow buffer, limited controls, slow and loud AF, mirror-slap that defines the term, and dimmer viewfinder. The K10D is much more well-rounded, with a deeper and better-integrated feature set, brighter and larger viewfinder, more dedicated controls, and faster operation. It is big, though, too.

I kind of like the K10D suggestion above. I love the sensor and jpeg engine of the K100D, but some control, speed, and refinement issues bug me. The K10D has its flaws as well, but is so much more substantial a package. Both take great pictures, though, so it's your call. Waiting might bring much better versions of either--but if the K10D's replacement is really that much better, it will also probably command quite a bit more loot than does the K10D at present.

As I live in UK camera cost a lot more here. Also as it's my first DSLR I don't want to go in over my head, so I'll have to stay within my budget of £350. So it looks like the K100D Super for me.
