hmmmm ...

I don't know the price in the U.S. - in germany the top model Quato IntelliProof 260 excellence costs about 2.500 EURO (the EIZO CG241W for example costs about 2.700 EURO). If you're interested in more information look at this ...

http://www.quato.de/english/news.php

http://www.quato.de/english/wheretobuy.php

http://www.chromaticity.com/products.html

Here you can find all informations.

And the soft proof accuracy is phenomenal - no unexpected colors anymore and satisfied customers of my agency - now they are able to see on my monitor what they will get as expected print results without any surprise ...

Best regards
Markus

You've written a compelling review. But, when I follow your links I am unable to find pricing or a USA distributor. Strange products come up when you follow the USA link (flag) from the QUATO site itself.

Can you help with this?

I saw the link to Quato U.S. was corrupt - so maybe this link helps to contact a reseller

http://www.chromaticity.com/findarep.html

Unfortunateley I have no experience in buying monitors in the U.S but I think the reseller list from the link above could help you or you want to contact QUATO directly to get more info:

I had already made the rep contact email. Thanks for confirming corruption. You have been a HUGE help. Many, many thanks!

You're welcome Paul and you can believe that this monitor would be a great choice - I had so many problems in getting accurate color results in my advertising agency so I am so glad now to get totally satisfying results during postprocess, offset and inkjet printing workflows. It was the best product I've bought during the last years (oh - I don't want to forget my lovely 5D's and the nice Canon gear ...)

In germany it's just 4.15 a.m. - so I have to go to bed now ...

greetíngs from good "cold" germany

Self calibrated it to XP, Epson and my NVidea card. I print out what I see to my
Epson Pro 4800. No fancy gizmos.

(sheesh...get that fixed Phil...Sometimes things have to be in caps)
~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been using my MacBookPro and an Apple Cinema Display 23", but
even after calibration, I don't think they are really calibrated. I
had to use 7500K and a gamma of 1.8 to even come close with my ACD to
the MacBookPro screen, which I calibrateed to 6500K and 2.1. The ACD
remains overly contrasty and too saturated. Apple provides no direct
control over display properties, other than ICC and brightness.
I'm looking for a better external LCD, probably a 30" 2560x1600
model. Eizo is coming out with two soon, one a FlexScan and the
other, their higher end ColorGraphics model.
What do you use, and what recommendations do you have? Would the
FlexScan be good enough for fine art printing?
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Does anyone know of a good monitor that won't break the bank? (Already broke it on 1DIII). I noticed some monitors are advertised as having a wider color gamut like 93%, 114% etc. Sounds good to me, but are some of these companies just using fancy language to sell more monitors? Tru-brite, Magic-color, Ultra-sharp...what the heck does all that mean anyway? I read Galbraith's bit on the new LED backlit screens on the MacBook pros - those sound cool. But I don't want a new notebook. Where can I find an LED backlit monitor for a decent price?
Anymore votes for the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC? One previous poster said he used one. I just saw it on the Dell website for $669. Dell claims it has the wider gamut and the customer reviews are all positive.
I just order one of those (in fact two) for a new system. Do you use it straight out of the box, or did you calibrate it? Any additional impressions or tips would be appreciated!
Can i use my monaco optix pro to calibrate the QUATO intelliproof 260 ?
I am looking for a very good screen for a MC pro
Paul,
You do realize that this display is optimized (gamut size and shape) for ECI-RGB which is not that common in the US ?
BTW, I just noticed that the white paper on Quato.de discusses ECI-RGB in its version 1 (TRC of gamma 1.8) context, see e.g. pages 2 & 3 of http://www.quato.de/german/produkte/Whitepaper_IP_excellence_E.pdf
The TRC of Version 2 of ECI-RGB is based on L* and is technically identical to the LStar-RGB profile from Color Solutions which has been around for a while.
