I think its time for me to buy a tripod.

Or they kept them to themselves. I'm right where you are, Paul, knowing I have to buy one but not sure which one to get....and busy in the bargain. I hope you'll post if you buy one and I'll do same.

Paul,

Sorry I can't help you out. I bought mine at a auction here in town for $15. It was a used one from the college photography department. It is probably equivilant to the $50 one at walmart except my don't have a quick release. Extended it is probably 72 inches and 3 way head. Try your local camera shops for used equipment before you go out and buy one from walmart. That would be my only suggestion.

The one I have seen at Walmart was purchased by at least two members here..I thought either Sandman or Dwight..

It was $20 and extended to 52 inches with center bubble leveler and center column lock...two quick release mounts.
Ive concluded no photographer is complete without one...especially
with my love for night time photography.

Ive heard the one at wal-mart for 50 bucks is probably my best
bet...anyone have anything else to say on the matter?
