Park Cameras (UK) just called for 1Ds MK3 delivery

Thanks, this is better than I expected. Someone did tell me I can't
qualify for Canon CPS with an imported body but not sure if that is
correct or if they check. Cheaper to buy a qualifying used body
anyway than to buy 1Ds MkIII from UK.

I would say that is not true either, I have Canon CPS, and it is with an imported body S/N, in fact that would be defeating the whole object of CPS, it is supposed to be a world service to service Pros, when on site working, and need urgent service.

You can actually buy a 1DSMK3 cheaper in HK, than you can get a 1DSMK2 in UK lol. so Sad

Why do people not read other posts,

Why would you buy a mack warranty, if all you do is send in the Body under warranty to Canon UK elstree and have it repaired Free of Charge.
Though I not sure Mack warranties actually cover 1 series

I can only offer my personal experience of attempting to buy a 1D Mark III from PC World Business as a word of warning if you are tempted by the low price.

I placed an order online with them and although they had no stock, I was charged the full amount on my credit card. Not a problem for me as stock was due in just a few weeks.

However the due date kept getting pushed back and back as they couldn't get any stock.

Disappointed and over £2500 outstanding, I cancelled and looked to order elsewhere, where I would be now back of the queue.

Trying to get a refund was the most frustrating retail experience in my life. They insisted I had already received a refund and it took several weeks to resolve. With them eventually agreeing to pay the interest incurred on my credit card.

My suspicion is that they will not be able to get any 1Ds mark III bodies anytime as they are not a well known Canon dealer. So unless you can spare them £5000 for a few months, I would look elsewhere.

Because your standard warranty covers you for a year and the mack warranty is 'extended'. Agreed that it would be a pain if your camera broke down in its 1st year as it wouldn't be covered if it was an import. However I’m sure there are many who would take that risk to save a considerable amount of money.

Is there an average cost of repairs on 1 series cameras? How many repairs could you have before it became financially unsound to have imported instead of buying here?

I have never imported personally but to combine a holiday and shopping trip is appealing.

cameras up to £4500 are covered by the warranty i posted

One turned up lunchtime from Park :-)

Noticeably lighter than my 1Ds, and that huge screen is quite a difference

For those who are in the UK, Park Cameras is a very large UK
dealership, roughtly equivilent to B&H in the USA.

They said that they had their delivery confirmation from Canon and
the first shipment was due in tomorrow or Friday and would be sent
out Friday or Monday.

I confirmed (Credit card now straining under the pressure) and look
forward to Friday or Monday for delivery.

I'm happy to do any tests or samples if people wish (assuming others
don't beat me to it) but please be gentle. Whilst I'm a good
photographer I'm not making a total living at it yet.

Mike,

They're not all bad. I ordered a 42" plasma screen and it arrived during the day. My partner signed for it but when I arrived home and we took it upstairs we discovered that the screen was cracked.

I was a bit concerned as we had signed for it, but they issued an RMA the next day with no hassle.

Still some credit card problem though - they issue the refund swiftly enough but it turned out they hadn't charged me for it in the first place!

I doubt it very much that the prices includes tax. They are just not charging you tax. Ritz sells in all the states as they have stores all over. You could try to buy it in person and see if the price includes tax. I'm sure you would be taxed.
As always, your mileage may vary.....

$7600? I havent seen any advertised US price that departs from $7999
before-- where is that?
Is that including FL tax?
