Sony 909. Is it true?

Have anyone heard about the new 909?? I read about it on another forum.
Here are the specs:

"It has a Zeiss lens that is 30-250 mm , 9.0 mega-pixel, Comes with both LCD on the back and an optical view finder that stays bright all the time.

Same IR focus as the 707 and the shape has remained about the same.. The camera is 12mm higher than the 707..But this is where Sony stores the built in 256meg of internal ram!!! The 909 delivers a 15 meg tif and a 4 meg Jpeg.. Comes with 128 memory stick.
Street price $1300..."
Sounds to good to be true.

No way. Not with 9 Mpixel. We can be happy if the successor comes with 6 Mpixel.
A 9 Mpixel TIFF would be 26 megs anyway.

What forum did you read this on? It is the first I have heard of this, but the zoom and sensor size sound like too big a jump to be a true story.

Thank you for the link. His last comments make me think he is writting about what he would like to see:
"Maybe dreams come true!! Sony are you Listening????"

If they were real specs from Sony, why would they have to be listening? They would already know. Sounds like a fictional spec sheet to me. But I do thank you for posting it, the early reports are loads of fun to verify.

Can't be correct because it would be a 27meg TIFF format.

p.s. of course, I remember last summer, Joshua (i think) reported features of the upcoming 707 (at the time), such as Laser AF and nightshot, and people just about laughed him right off the forum too. (because those things sounded too far-fetched at the time to be true). so who knows...[/U]

There is a thought, but TIF compression wouldn't even reduce the size of file to 50% of uncompressed.

yeah that was me,, this is my new nickname for some reason. but when i reported it i saw it from the official sony conference for asia. i didn't read it off of some forum. i don't think its true, the 505v being the top of the line camera was out for something like 2 years before a sucessor was introduced, the 707 hasn't been around very long at all. but you never know.

Actually the 1GB Memory Stick will likely be available in Magic Gate format only. This seems to be the direction Sony are (is) headed with media.
