I can't get XP to install my Nikon drivers properly.

It detects the device just fine but I get an error when XP is installing the drivers

"One of the filter drivers installed for this device is invalid".

I can't get past this error. Search the M$ site to no avail.

Checked windows update for new USB software - nothing new to install.

I have the same problem installing a Sandisk device.

Any suggestions on how to get around this?

Thanks

Tom

What Nikon drivers are you trying to install?
WinXp has its own Nikon 995 & 5000 drivers built right in

XP was trying to install its own 995 drivers. So its the built-in ones.

I have Windows XP also and use my Epson 785EPX or my USB SanDisk reader. In both cases, the compact flash card data shows as a removable drive and I transfer it to wherever I want with no problem. Don't use Nikonview at all.

Hi Tom
Is your XP (home or pro?) a 'full' install or an 'upgrade' from some other os?
My full version Xp pro installed its own drivers for my 990, no problem!

Also a lexar card reader was accepted without fuss. Out of interest, and although it is not actually necessary ( in the past I have not been a NikonView fan), I just installed the dreaded Nikon view 5.0.1, and it is running beautifully. I have seen a comment on this forum that a combination of Nikon View & a CF card reader provide VERY fast display!

SO - if you have more problems and you don't have much by way of installed software yet, you may just consider a reinstall of xp. That 'may'! solve all issues.

Although labor intensive, sometimes a format and reinstall of the os is the fastest way to get the wrinkles out. Its a matter of figuring out if its worth the effort.

Hi emes,

I started out useing Xp home upgrrade from winMe at home, Then I upgrraded my laptop the same way, both worked fine with all my coolpix,
When I built a new sysytem for the studio I bought XP pro full install,

Now all my computerd are running XP pro full install, and have no problems, everything works thru windows without any secondary software or drivers (for uploading images from cameras to hard drive) I'm useing PSPro7, Photoshop 6, ThumbsPlus 4, ACDSee 4, and allot more to mention for everthing else
