Hi all,

I own my QV4000 for 3 days, and I have to say, that this camera is great. My second camera is Fuji 2400, is very good too, but it produces pictures with less resolution, has very small amount of controls and is a little bit slow.

I'm just wondering, if someone tried to charge any not Casio/Sanyo batteries in Casio charger? Did it worked?

Another Question is, is it really so that the batteries from QV4K supply are really shaped for the best results on this Cam. I mean, it's possible to get 1800mAH batteries "special for digicams". Did someone used such battaries and compared it to standart set?

Thanks :)

sorry for my poor english... greetz from Bremen/Germany

I used GP 1800 mAh batteries and they last longer than the one I got when I purchased my camera. Also, the charger that comes with it works faster! (About 1.5 hour to fully charged)

Cheers,

It doesn't matter what brand of batt. you use.
I have gp 1800 and i charge them in the casio charger , works fine.
It takes a bit longer to charge them because there 1800.

It is what I was suspecting :) How long do you have to charge GP 1800? Does Casio-charger indikator stop lighting after full charging of GP1800? :)

Thanks 4 your answer

The gp's take about 5 ours to charge could be 6.
The casio charger indikator stops lighting wen the batt. are full.

I can recommend the gp's they're working is very long(not good english i think but i'm from the Netherlands)

Thank you for advice, I've seen some GP 1800 yesterday, maybe I'll buy them, becouse only one set of battaries seems too risky to me :)

Hi.

I bought a processor-controlled charger for my batteries (not only for the camera). I made a test charging my 1800 camera batteries with the casio charger. Then put them into the other charger which put about 30% more energy into them (you can read the exact value on the display)! Using the camera, I realized that it worked much longer than with the casion charger.

The charger is (in Germany) about 100Euro - but it does a really great job and is worth it! BTW: Charging empty 1800mAh batteries only takes about 1,5 hours!

Bye,
Carsten

but you if you could tell me where in Germany I can get this charger, it would be nice :)

Hi Dan,

Although I am pretty satisfied with my Casio charger I can recommend Ansmann Powerline 4. You can buy this incl. 4 Sanyo Twicell (in my opinion best batteries to get) for EUR 44.90 plus EUR 5.00 postage. An additional set of batteries (I recommend at least 2 extra sets) would cost you 10.20. Link here:

I also recommend Friwo 1800 batteries.

Hope this helps. If you need more info you can also mail (in German of course).

Juergen

Thanks for your help, Jurgen, I've bookmarked your site and maybe will use it in feature...

I just asking myself, do I need it? I allways can take with me 4 (or even 8) Alkali batteries, they are not so bad at all and quite cheap. On the other had, I have 4 Ansmann 1400 accus and Ansmann Basic5 charger for my Fuji camera...

The main problem is, that I need something to discharge my batteries, to disclose the memory effect... I thing, I have to post it in separat thread :)

I would discourage using alkalis, they really do not last long and cost more than half the price good rechargeables do.

For discharging batteries I use an old ALDI charger which they sell on a regular basis for less than 10 Euros. Look out for the next offer.

Good point... :/

OK, but I say know ALDI it may take a long, one year or something.

On the other hand, I think, that there's no reason to take care of memory effekt on NiMH, so I will just charge them, when I want without discharging...

You can also look at Lidl or Norma, they all carry this at a regular basis (every few months).

In meantime simply put the batteries into a pocket and leave it burning all night. Then your batteries are definitely empty.

Some useful hints on rechargeables you will find here (all in German):

Jürgen,

I have to thank you very much for this link. I've red a little bit in qv-forum, and I think, that this forum is really great. I will read a little bit more, and I'm sure, you will se some of mine posts there soon ;)

Hi Dan.

I bought the Conrad ChargeManager 2000 (www.conrad.de). It has a lcd display which shows the actual amount of energy which is charged or discharged on every slot. Very nice feature to see the life-status of every battery. It features 5 programs: charge, discharge, check (discharge then charge), cycle (charge-discharge-charge), alive (cycle 2 times, useful to activate brandnew or very old batteries). You can select auto or manual

-mode. In auto, the charger auto-select current-parameter automatically, in manual-mode, you setup the capacity of every battery and the charger knows the perfect values.

I can highly recommend this charger!

BTW: Don't discharge your batteries with a lamp or something! You kill the batteries by deeply discharging them! The discharge-feature of the ChargeManger selects a perfect discharge-current.

Carsten
