I've just got a new fz8 and have heard it has problems with sandisk ultra cards. what would be the recommended card for this camera? is the difference between ultra cards and regular speed cards significant or is it best to buy regular sandisk 2gb cards and stay on the safe side?

Interesting. I've been using a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB card in mine and prior to that, the FZ8 my girlfriend owns, with no problems at all. JPEG files seem to write instantly and it takes about 2 seconds or so for a RAW file.

I would bet the "problem" probably was an isolated incident or two...something that can happen with any product, but like everything you read about on the internet, two people talk about it, then 200 then 2000, then all of a sudden it's an issue, when it never really was. Sometimes, you can read and definitely believe too much.

When I use "motion picture" option on DMC-FZ8 using SD card, maximal allowed recording time is always 15 minutes. In according Manuals, must be 3h 15m with 2GB SD card on lowest resolution. I changed camera and some SD cards, but problem always exists. Please advise !

I use a 2gb Sandisk Ultra II for my TZ3 camera and it works perfect. I was told that if I bought the ordinary Sandisk Blue I might not be able to record movie for longer time since the card is slow.

I hope I will get a 4gb Transcend for christmas :)

Please try to record "motion picture mode" with 2 GB SD card on DMC-FZ8. Is there possible to record more than 15 minutes continuously, till 2GB of course? I used few cards without success.
