Will try it out today, and maybe attempt some viewfinder vs camera shots.

Dusty indeed - but it was fresh out of the Ricoh packaging!

I take it the little tick marks on the top and bottom are for framing the 1:1.

Yes indeed. I was hoping for something more substantial than that. Kind of hard to visualise a 1:1 shot with only the tick marks.
