E3 Photos of Juvenile Red-Tailed-Hawk

How anyone can proclaim these to be sharp by viewing heavily downsized images is beyond me. Noise however is obvious in the first sample along with blue CA in the last image.

You must be joking. At least for your sake, I hope so. Of course the last image is blown out. That wasn't the point of the post. But you say you can't tell these images are sharp?

How do YOU tell - pray tell oh wise obi juan - holier than thou - one ?

(your complaints are rapidly becoming annoying - as well as quite revealing)

Very well done! No blown highlights on the white of the bird, sharp enough and it seems IS is working well for you.

BG in 3 is how it can be expected with those lighting conditions but bird is exposed well even there.

it's not exactly rocket science to know they are very sharp original files.

Those images appear about as sharp as they can get on a computer monitor and are worthy of admiration by any objective observer in my book.

I've just come back to these, superb shots... I would seriously love to see more of your work with this lens + E-3 combination. I am amazed at the IQ of these.

Also, I don't know whether you have an E-510, but I think many people would be interested in the IQ difference and IS performance between the E-3 and E-510 with this lens... that would help a lot of people.

Kind Regards

Brian

This was a loaner from a friend that recently got this set. I may not have access to it for a while :) but if I do I will post some more samples.

I did like the E3 a lot and the noise was a pleasant surprise (better than I expected). As far as the lens I wish they had put SWD in it (I would pay an extra 100-200 for an SWD version). It has some difficulties with backlit subjects (lower contrast, some CA) but most lower end zooms do.

If I ever get this loaner package again I can make a comparison with the Nikon 70-300 AFS VR.

It is very difficult to photograph a patch of white feathers without screwing up everything else. I can see enough detail, if not all.
Those pics are great!
Very good news for me: I am waiting for my 70-300 to arrive!

Yes, the 600mm reach in such a light weight combo is great. If I could afford a second system I would get a set for myself.
