It was rather warm today, in the 60's, so I broke out the 300 2.8 and did some tests with my kids in the back yard. A few bursts with my daughter running full speed towards me. Ai Servo, single point (center), focused on the 'dog' on her shirt. I know this isn't one of the 90's day where the issues are suppose to more prominent, but hey I'm just having a little fun anyway!

Looks good to me!

How do the crops of the dog on the shirt look at 100% size without processing?

Looks great! Good example compared to other saying the focusing is "flat".

Thanks a lot for posting this. The AF works exceptionally well, considering the very bright and contrasty gold coloured jacket that would have the potential to fool the AF system, but does not!

Would you like to put the whole gear on a tripod and shoot some static subjects indoors at full aperture, low ISO, drive speed high, both with One-shot AF and Servo AF. Then we would know there is at least one camera where everything works properly, short of testing in high ambient temperature and intense sunshine...

Besides there is obvious artistic quality in the pictures. If you ever do this shoot again, perhaps get a few frames where a little bit of ground shows in front of the runner (using an off-center AF point). That and a bit of direct eye-contact ad you´d have a perfect running portrait.

Why Canon don't give R.G. a blue dot camera so we can sleep in peace. It's several monts we are waiting for a conclusion of the story.
