Adjusting aperture for blurring background on daylight shots

If you use pbase go to your photo, pick the size medium, large or
original, right click the photo, choose properties and you'll see
the link then highlight the link then right click and choose copy
then post a message and right click and choose paste in the message
box with your message.
Ah -- but get more basic. How do I use or sign up for pBase??

Phil

And if you want the picture to show up here, not just the link to
pbase, add .jpg to the end after you paste.
When you right click on the photo itself the jpg. will already be on the link in properties.

My aperture doesn't seem to want to go any lower than a 2.8 but
that doesn't seem to work for blurring background shots. What is
the best settings to use to do this to take picture of flowers as
single group and/or single flower? Thanks
It depends on how much bluring your trying to get. Here are some
examples that were shot at F2.8, spot focus and spot metering.

the background like the one on the pink flower was exactly what I want to get sometimes the dark (black background) and the subbackground blurred. That's a wonderful picture.

The problem is really with all digital cameras...the F-stop on a
digital must be multiplied by the focal lengh equivalence of the
camera...ie.

the 2100UZ's actual focal length is 7-70mm which is said to be
equivalent to 38-380mm. The focal length equivalent factor is
7:38; 70:380

or 38/7 = 5.4 usually rounded to 5

soooooooo.... f2.8 is actually 2.8x5 or f14..... WOW...that means
f8 is actually f40!! WOW WOW!...well it doesnt exactly come out
that way, but close... see this article..

NOW!!

To really blur out the background...say like this...with floral
shots or insects..

You have to use the zoom and/or the macro...which means you have to
be within 3-6ft of the subject.

Hope this helps...
:)
Yes that helps a lot thank you so much.

Char, to smooth out or blur the background a little more I use the Photo Deluxe noise- remove grain or jpg cleanup feature. They are adjustable and I will slightly over sharpen then run them through one of these two to get the desired effect. It's the only thing I use Photo Deluxe for and it does wonders on smoothing backgrounds.

I am new in taking photographs. Used a 3020 to shoot the above pic to achieve a slightly blur image of a not so far object. How is it?

I'm not certain what your question is:

The far object is blurred because you were focusing on the fore object and likely using a short depth of field from an f stop that is very low. You might also have been using a macro setting or some zoom? I am not familiar with the 3020, so I can not speak about its features.
