40D wireless remote shutter release

I miss the RC-5 since upgrading to 40D from XTi, Anyone has a good suggestion? I'm willing to spend up to $100.
 
I would second this.

I got a similar model from another Hong Kong based ebay seller for under $30 with shipping to US and it works great with the 40D.
 
I bought the Adit model (I no longer have the contact information), which is radio based and much more flexible than the IR models. It cost about $80.

Do a search on a wireless shutter release made by Cactus. t's better than the ones listed below.
The Yong Nuo, Star and Phottix are the same unit with different names.

They work OK but have a long spongy shutter button action compared to the Cactus. If the Cactus button was larger it would almost have the same feel as the camera.

I own both kinds. The Cactus is the way to go. It's smaller too, like a GM keyless entry remote pod.
All off them have excellent range and battery life.

OTOH, I have yet to find any reviews of this Aputure product, whereas

I received this Aputure unit (AP-WR3C) today, and I'm impressed. It's exactly what I was looking for.

The transmitter is tiny -- about 2.75" long, 1.25" wide, and 0.5" thick. The receiver isn't much larger. The instruction manual was written in understandable English, and it came with an alkaline battery for the transmitter. (The receiver takes 2 standard AAAs.)

Oh, and it works, too! I haven't tested it extensively since it came only a few minutes ago, but I did make sure it worked in single shot & bulb mode.

I couldn't be more pleased at this time. Bought from Link Delight, a big Chinese eBay seller.

Thanks, I'm in the US too but I was wondering about this paragraph at the end of their shipping and customs page.

My Cactus remote arrived today from Gadget Infinity:

29.95 + 5.00 shipping cost (US dollars to Naples, FL).

Came shipped as a gift (Customs Declaration CN 22) with a declared value of USD $10.00.

Was shipped from Hong Kong and arrived about two weeks after ordered.

So far, it works great!

am using it on my 30D.

Glad you're liking it, too, Lucian. I've used mine literally 100s of times now, and the only problems I've had with it happened when the camera was in portrait mode. It's happened twice now that when I move to portrait mode, the plug must come slightly unplugged from the camera body. The first time it happened I thought the unit just stopped working and was broke. But now I know it just needs to be re-plugged in again.

It's a great, little unit. And I just love the small size of the transmitter.

With regard to the Cactus model, I don't see where it says that it is compatible with the 40D. Perhaps I overlooked it. Can someone provide a link to one made for the 40?

If you use Pocket Wizards, just buy the camera cord, and you have a full featured, secure radio camera release. I use my Sekonic light meter to trigger the unit, and even the cheaper models will accept a PW radio card.
