Nikonian vs. Canonites Image contest.

The lighting shot is amazing, thanks for having an explanation on how you did it. Unfortunately here in Vancouver we get plenty of clouds and the rain, but no lighting. I’ll have to try it out when I’m back in Ontario. I really enjoyed your PBase galleries.

Here are some of my favorites.

5D 17-40 L.

(It was a windy day with bad lighting.)

20D 100-400 L.

the right light? I mean, if you have the skills/talent/equipment, you still need to get yourself to the scene. A dull city or basement room won't come near to what usually counts for a great and impressive shot.

Don't tell me you can get great shots just "anywhere". There is only a small bit of truth to that. The bigger truth is my earlier statement. Comments? ;)

First, my research indicates both Canon and Nikon shooters respond well to the word topless (and you should be ashamed)

A bunch of talk on both the Nikon and Canon versions of this thread, but so far the images you all did post are fantastic and well worth the time it takes to go through this thread.

regards
Ray
I could care less about the Canon vs Nikon air that gets blown
around. But I will say this: There seem to be many more Canon users
willing to display their own stunning photography on these boards.
Most of the Nikon guys on the boards just talk about how superior
Nikon is to Canon. Canon users, on the other hand, prove the superb
quality of Canon equipment with their images. On these boards, at
least, Canon would win easily. That isn't to say there isn't great
photography made with Nikon out there, it just doesn't appear as much
here.

I expected this response from you.
After all dpreview is a photography forum.
I don't mind this idea, however this is equipment forum ...
Len, just put up some of your images. I bet you would suprise a few
people here.
Just ease up on the Nikon hating and let your photography flow.
Thanks for remembering me and my shots, however not in my plans to
impress one like this PO.
I remember time when dpreview first impressed me with Daniella,
Hawkman or Keith Rankin shots. But they seem left this place or
visiting not as often as before and I could imagine why …

I'd like to thank the members whom posted images....Nikon and Canon shooters alike.

I'm not sure how some of the other replies misinterpreted my original post as some type of Canon vs. Nikon comparison.......if so, then my bad. But the posting shows how a lot of people visit Dpreview to share images versus those just to beech about what's better...etc.

There are some wonderful images from pros and non pros....Canon/Nikons.

I started this posting to see images, and asked to post Canon/Nikon or whatever camera to just see images. To maybe stop this eternal battle of what camera is better....just seems to be a lot of that lately.

all shot with 1d/1d mk II N

this is one of my favorites...taken at the New Orleans zoo.....shot with a Mrk II N and my 300 2.8. i swore he was looking right into my soul.

Wow! Who would have thought that both systems take great shots? So what you see is, in the right hands, either system will do the job, even a point and shoot.

Reading through each forum it is interesting to note that on the Nikon side you got blasted for posting this sort of "challenge" idea, but in the Canon side people just posted photos.

i've checked both forums......its the same type of responses both ways.....if you read the original post, it states that the images will be posted on the Canon forum.

if you don't like it..........CARRY ON.
