Hi all!

I just want to introduce myself here. I'm part of the new wave of people who couldn't resist a $2000 5D (especially at the exchange rates: I'm Canadian, bought from America).

I've switched from Minolta/Sony system and gave up my Minolta 7D. 20/2.8, 35/1.4G, 85/1.4G, 80-200/2.8G and 100/2.8 Macro for a Canon 5D 17-40/4L, 35/1.4L, 70-200/2.8L. All for the lust of a full frame and not wanting to wait for the Sony flagship to come out and having to pay ~$1500 more for it.

I'm still getting used to the system but full frame is everything i thought it would be.. Amazing! I love the wide FOV. ANd the ISO performance in on another level. Still thinking about getting the 85/1.2 and/or 100macro. I do miss the Minolta glass though..

Pics from my new Canon:

Thanks for looking!

funny, I thought you ordered a D3 as I did.

anyway, for static images as yours I would not need anything other than 5D... together with 85L capable of catching magic...

Yeah I'm leaning towards the 5D with it's current price. But the strange thing is the 5D is cheaper here in Canada then the US (unless I'm missing something). Currently Aden has the body on for $2470 with a $700 rebate if you buy it with the grip or lense. Puts this beast to $1770. Just to think this camera was around $4500 here in Canada when it first launched.....that's some savings!

Congrats on the new toys :)

Cheers

I didn't know Aden was selling it so cheap but it's still not cheaper than the states:

if Aden is listed for $2470
-$2470 + $345.8 (Tax) - $700 = $2115.8 CAD

Adorama: i got it at $2099
-$2099USD / 1.06(the exchange rate i got) = $1980 * 1.06 (GST) = $2099 CAD

It's a little bit cheaper, but including all the gear i got (3 lenses, pocket wizards, flashes) i saved hundreds getting it from adorama. Plus i don't have to wait for the rebate.
