As I 'm organizing an old pile on my desk, I just came across a Pop Photo issue from October 1998. I skimmed through it and I came across this from B&H:

Compact flash cards:

30 mb - 169.95
40 mb - 199.95
85 mb - 499.95
175 mb - 999.95

and...

220 mb - 1319.95 (!!)

Boy, are we spoiled! ;-)

And how much were DSLRs back then? I think the Kodak DCS560 was something like $30,000. Crazy thing is, people actually bought them for that! Going rate on eFray is under $400.
 
It is funny how things change, I remember buying a Nikon Coolpix 990 for $1000 and a 128Mg CF card for around $400 about 6 or 7 years ago. Now you can get something like a Rebel XTi with 16Gb card for the same money.
