I have an opportunity to buy a 5D with 24-105mm lens kit from a reputable dealer. I know them and I deal business with them all of the time.

Brand new with USA warranty.

Price $2475

Dilemma:

I already own a 5D. I’m only thinking about buying it for the lens and selling the body.

Question:

What would I be able to get for a brand new 5D minus the lens?
If I could get $2,000 then that would be great. I got the 24-105mm for $475.
Is that a reasonable price for the 5D? More/Less?

Thanks for your feedback.

No Dilemma.
Buy it now and sell it tomorrow.
That's like paying $1300 for the 5D...the price of a body-only 40D!

If you won't buy it...give me their phone number and I will.

And heck, I already own BOTH the 5D and 24-105...Paid $3K for the 5D alone, two years ago.

I'm serious.
If you don't want it, give me their number and I'll buy it over the phone.

If you do this, sell immediately. Who knows when the 5D Mark II or whatever is going to be released. If you sell it now, you'll probably be able to get $1800 or $1900 for the body. If you wait, and the Mark II is released at a price around where the 5D is now (unlikely but possible), the value of the 5D is going to go down really quickly.

If this were me, I would go for this, but again, I would act quickly.

Thanks.

I know it's a good deal but I would have to get a good price for the 5D for the deal to still be good. I only want the lens.

I think that 2k is a little high. Amazon lists them for around 2100 (at least that is what I just paid). If you purchase the Pixma Pro900 for 400, then get 500 rebate and sell printer on ebay for 250, the net price for the 5D is 1750 brand new from a reputable dealer. That takes a little work to accomplish. So, I would think if you tried for 1800-1850 so they don't have to ebay the printer you might have a reasonably attractive offer.

It seems that the 5D price is on the rise. I'll try for $2k and see what happens.
I placed the order today.

... as only the original buyer or gift recipient are covered, with the original receipt.
