Man I loved using this camera. Its so fun! But my gear has been sold so now I just have to wait. Some of the pics are kind of boring but, enjoy. (I also put in a few 50 1.2 L pics left over.)

31 lmt, on our way to some smug club that I would normally never be able to get into.

31 lmt, kind of a boring shot but I love the texture of the wall.

31 lmt, cool hair huh!

31 lmt, cute dog, but he didnt like me.

50 L, this place is flooded with people after work...I waited 2 weeks for it to rain just to catch this shot!

50 L, Angry girlfriend...well she wasnt really angry but it made a cool pic.

31 lmt, I dont know what they were thinking about but it was something deep!

31 lmt, check out the lady staring ahead, she looks scary! I love the trains, especially the way some people end up sleeping (hehe).

Have to say I love your stuff, Doyle. Excellent photos.
I look forward to seeing some work with the D3 when you get it. :-)

Hey Doyle,

Really great photos (even the "boring" one)! I don't normally look at a picture for more than 10s, but couldn't get my eyes of of these ones... Trying to capture the moment is not an easy task, but you did it very well in my opinion. "Angry girlfriend" is truly amazing!

Only one comment: can't understand the use of signatures in photos, but maybe that is just me...

Kind regards,

Mark.

It's all a matter of perception...

Doyle, fund needs aside, for someone who loves the 31mm as much as you did, and for someone who takes as amazing pictures as you do (honestly, you could do your own show), I don't understand why you let this lens and your Pentax go. It seems to me you could have explored the streets for years and years and never run out of material. You're inspired me to master the two lenses I have (the 31 and 50) before moving on to anything other for quite some time.

Hi Doyle!

Amazing pictures, just like what I would like to achieve as a result, including in terms of lighting, contrasts and clarity. Congrats!

I have had the same camera for almost a year now, but have not practiced enough with it, I guess, as my results are not that spectacular... and as I am quite a newbie in photography. My question : did you use the lens provided with the 'kit' or used other lenses? I wonder if I should get more equipment or this is just a question of technique I have not mastered. I guess yes..

Thx,

Nathalie

Very nice photos!!! I will miss your postings here. I am sure you will enjoy the D3.

Hi Nathalie!

Hmmm I used the FA 31mm Limited ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/394223-REG/Pentax_20290_Wide_Angle_SMCP_FA_31mm.html )

Its by far my favorite lens of all time...ever. I've found a great lens helps but by no means replaces technique!

How long have you been using a DSLR? I would stick with the kit lens or wide range zoom (like 35mm equiv. 35mm-200mm, one of those cheap Sigmas would work) and just shoot away. When you go home and look at the pics on your PC, trash the ones you don't find appealing and keep the ones you like. Keep taking pics of the things you like, then when you start to develop your own personal technique, you will know what kind of lens or camera body you need. THEN I would start looking at what lens to buy next ^ ^v.

Check out this guy on Flickr ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/christopherd6/page28/ )...If you start from his oldest photos to his newest ones, you can see how far he came in 1 year...now hes a professional @. @

But thats just my 2 cents after wasting tons of money on gear I never used. I'd also recommend looking at some free photoshop tutorials. I purchased this tutorial but its not exactly cheap ( http://tutorial.joeyl.com/ ). I really like it.

Hey Doyle ;-)

Thanks for these amazing shots again... the last in that line...

I still don't understand how you can manage to get people so candidly straight off the street (except your girlfriend!), albeit with a 31mm lens... I'm too shy to do that! Would you share a little bit of your secret... ? ;-)

I think that's one of the things I find most difficult, approach strangers/make contact to have a nice candid shot...

Cheers ;-)
