I see web ads for Digipower NP-80 equivalent batteries as low as $18.95, Digipower NP-80 battery & charger kits for as low as $45.95, and Kodak DC-4800 battery & Charger kits (said to be Fuji 6900 compatible) for as low as $50.00.

These are all considerably cheaper than the Fuji branded items.

Has anyone actually used Digipower or Kodak batteries in their 6900 cameras? Can anyone speak from experience whether these are suitable?--RDKirk

The Kodak battery works fine, though not as long as the Fuji. The Koday charger kit is worth it!

I've got the Digipower kit and the battery works fine. It does not power up the 6900 quite as long as the Fuji battery but its amperage is a bit lower, I think mine was marked 1200mAh versus 1300 for the Fuji. i also have a Toshiba battery, a 1300 mAh battery which last just as long as the Fuji battery. My guess would be all these NP-80 equivalents are most likely made by only one or two manufacturers and re-branded for each OEM, so I'd have no qualms at all about using the digipower or any other type of NP-80 equivalent battery.

In the UK and Europe Hahnel batteries and "1 hour" charger are widely available.

Using UK prices, their NP-80 equivalent is 1200mAh and lasts about 85% of the time of the Fuji battery in the 6900z for anything between £27.50 and £32 and the charger whuich takes around 85 minutes to charge their own brand battery and 100 minutes for the Fuji costs around £40-£45.

I've had no problems using the Hahnel battery.

That brings up another question that I'll ask in the general forum.

How significant, in real-world practical terms, is the difference between a 1200mAh and a 1300mAh battery?

Yeah, mathmatically it's a 7.7 percent difference, but does it really work out that a 1300mAh battery gives you 7.7 percent more exposures? Is the quality control between from battery to battery with any given brand name consistent to within 7.7 percent? Do the batteries recharge consistently to within 7.7 percent every time?--RDKirk'It's always socially unacceptable to be right too soon.' -RAH

Does anyone know if the Kodak charger allows you to leave the battery on the charger - does it shut off after the battery is charged and switch to a trickle charge. If not does anyone know of a charger that has such a function.

I'm guessing, but I think that all chargers for Lithium Ion batteries do this, for reasons of health & safety. L-Ion batteries are not nice things to have blow up on you.

I have the Kodak battery and charger and I am very satisfied with them.

Yes, the Kodak battery does run out of power slightly before the Fuji battery does. However the Kodak charger will charge the battery in less time than it takes for the camera to discharge the battery, so it's all good.

I have left the battery in the charger for around a week and it didn't seem to affect it any.

I have a digipower kit, Battery and charger (battery is NP-80 equivalent) it works well. Recharge time aprx. 2 hours for both digipower battery and Fuji battery. seem to last about the same amount of time.
