I just purchased a 1D Mark III for $3,374.00 US$.
I don't want to say where but it's a major company that you all know.
Even with tax it still comes out to be $3,635.00

Not a bad deal and too good to turn down.

I only write this thread to let eveyone know how much room these companies have in profits. I know it will be different for each one but I don't think it's that much.

I’m not looking for creditability from anyone.

My only purpose was to inform others about how much mark-up these companies have in this stuff.

Even at the price I bought it for, they’re still making a profit.

Whether your believe me or not is up to you.

In many things I take the natural path of scepticism.

I see absolutely no reason not to mention the company's name if it's true.

Retailers do have high mark-ups. However I also know that most retailers do NOT get it directly from Canon that cheap.

When it's in your hands AND it has its blue sticker, and you can be sure it's not refurbished, or grey market, then your point will be closer to being made.

Hey, somebody's got to pay the help, utilities, rent, taxes, and other overhead. Might as well be the rest of us. :)

Because this is not their advertised price and I don't want a bunch of people calling to get the same deal. I do business with this company in other areas as many of you do.

It's brand new and I have no idea if it will have a blue sticker or not. I should get it in about 3-5 weeks.

Of course you are.
Otherwise, there's no reason to post.
Refurbs and grey market are also for sale for cheap.

Without ANY info from you, there is no basis upon which to assume it isn't one of the above cases.

That would be good to know...but right now, we don't know anything except some guy who offer zdero info said so.

Basically reminding you to be price concious and givng an indication of what deals can be had (basicaly trying to help), and you attack him!

What a bunch of nulls!

after reading dpreview forums the sales guys came to understand what kind of customers they are dealing with, and brought out their calculators and figured it all in and came up with the list price that needs to cover the cost of all these returns and repairs and adjustments and support to all these whiners

basic business sense. one has to cover ones butt when dealing with us. or else one gets screwed
