I just got my Black G2 yesterday ( with no crack and no hot pixel ) and i put it in charge but the light stays always yellow . I can't get the green. How does it long to get it ?

What happens when you leave the battery charged plugged on the G2 after the light has turned from yellow to green?

Can you put the battery in charge when you go to sleep and get a fully charged in the morning without damage?

Is there a disconnect system when the charge is OK ?

Don't worry it will not overchar itself so leave it on overnight...
Mine took about 5 hours to fully charge in the beginning...

P.S. And don't feel left out... you'll get the crack.

Lots of people find the Canon charger is 1 dumb 2 real slow..I like many in this forum I have bought an out of camera quick smart charger..The Lenmar Mach1 is a great way to go..Check it out at http://www.batterybarn.com/mpoint.html or http://thomas-distributing.com/index.htm
Batterybarn has cheaper shipping :-)

the orange will turn green in about 90 minutes, same time it took to charge, it is usable once it's solid orange. the battery can stay in the camera while charging. after all they designed the camera with the charger built in. not sure what you mean by a disconnect. as far as i know it simply stops charging after a preset time.

i havn't charged my pro 90 for a while, in camera. i got a mach 1 charger, every battery totally charged, 30min.

I agree with you and I 've to buy a Lenmar Mach 1 and an AC Delco AC 511
extra battery but I live in France and we don't find that here.

So, I wrote to [email protected] to ask them if they shipped to Europe.
But after 2 e-mails , they didn't answer to me.

Do you know if they ship out of USA?

Try going to the service Dept. at http://thomas-distributing.com/support.htm
They will respond and let you know if they will ship overseas.

Is almost like the manual said, for me. Less than 1 and 1/2 hours to go from blinking orange to steady orange (single blinks at first, then double, finnally triple blinks) and another couple hours for steady green. The time for orange light decreases a lot when the battery isn't drained all the way, but the green light still can take an hour and a half or so to show up.

Slow, "trickle" charging.

Should. I've done that. Just nothing positive said in the manual concerning immediate removal of the AC adapter. Only that you should unplug it when a full charge is obtained. I know, I seem to be contradicting myself, but what I meant was that the
Is there a disconnect system when the charge is OK ?
Nothing I could find in the manual suggesting that, but anything like this usually does due to prevent potential explosion. If it continued to over-charge the battery the camera could be damaged and the manual would certainly warn of that. I did find a statement about the AC Adapter itself though, warning not to use it too much due to possible overheating. I'd think it safe to leave going an additional 5 or 6 hours, but don't take my word for it.

Thing to remember is to take the battery out when you aren't going to be using the camera, and to let it disharge to lLb (low battery) symbol on the panel if you are going to leave the battery out for a really long time.--Farewell, Bob H.

Hi,

I did buy Lenmar charger and AC511, but I regret that decision. I never needed them.
Canon G2 is designed so that almost nobody needs any extra stuff like such.

Unless you go to a remote place where there is no electricity for more than a few days,

you don't need them. It has been impossible for me to use up the battery in a few days.
At night, you can always recharge it.

Whatever you do, the efficiency of the rechargable battery will degrade as time goes by.
My advise is, save that $100, and do something else.

I thought since these are Lithium-ion batteries that letting them fully discharge is bad!

It is real bad for the Li-ion battery to fully discharge..You get so much BAD Information here many times.

http://www.batterybarn.com/shipping.htm

"For ordering one to four cordless phone batteries or camcorder batteries, (Not include battery belt pack.), Please add $6.00 for oversea shipping. If the order is less than $25.00, please add another $4.00 for handling fee."

The preceding clause applies to all countries in Western Europe BUT Italy, so you're definitely covered. Get the battery, it wouldn't cost you in shipping because it's over $25 USD.

Hey cag403 glad to hear you have no hot pixels or cracks , I haven't read all the responses to this thread so forgive me if you already know the answer , if you where at Vdrums.com I think RTFM would apply to this thread :-) figure it out for yourself .....anyway , if you read the manual it says the light will blink orange then turn a solid orange (90%charged),then after approximately 2 hours after staying solid orange (90% charged) will turn to a solid green meaning FULLY charged. Hope I answered your question ....-- redman

No, no. Straight from the camera manual is a suggestion to fully charge then fully discharge (Lb on panel) the battery before putting it away for an extended period. I didn't say to do that if it isn't used a couple weeks, but maybe I should have made it more clear. Sorry. Anyway, that still says to me that if you are going to put the camera battery away a month or more it'd do better to charge/discharge than to leave it in any other state.
