Lucy Ricardo Takes Fall Trip

And you are so right! I don't think I've ever appreciated home as much as I do now.

Thanks so much for commenting.

Your comments made me think back to long ago when we'd visit the bakery and they would give my daddy 13 instead of 12 donuts. I just don't see that anymore. It was like a...perk, like our business was appreciated.

AND Gary, I appreciate your comments AND your excellent suggestion - which I can't wait to experiment with.

It was an unusual trip and is one for our memory banks. I sure hope the colors drift on down so we can go again - but this time, not quite so far.

Thanks so much for your kind comments.

Wonderful pictures and story line. I suspect you would post quality pictures no matter which camera we put in your hands (so long as it is not too heavy).

Have a great day!

All the best,
Jim

I must say that it was a wild ride while it lasted. According to the most recent reports from the areas we visited, some are past peak chiefly due to the leaves turning brown and falling off the trees due to drought-like conditions.

Hopefully some brilliant colors will develop nearer to home. No matter what, there is bound to be a color in our area. If not, I'll just drag out my magic wand and do something else.

I think that I actually embarrassed my husband during the heat of the summer because when I ran out of subjects close to home, I went with him to the Home Depot and my H2. He found me in the garden center taking close-ups of their flowers. Talk about slim pickins'!

And I didn't know that your dear wife had surgery. Hope she has a very speedy recovery.

And I hope that you get a chance to post that R1 photo. I'll keep an eye out for it! I always enjoy your photos so much.

Yes, I'm back and loaded for bear. Unfortunately, it's a teddy bear. Not much luck on this trip out. Maybe next time?

Hey - and thanks for missing me. That makes me feel good.

Sky

We sure had fun even if the colors weren't all there. Although - we are feeling a bit tired now. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy some of the posts here at the forum this evening.

Thanks so much for your kind comments.

You are so perceptive! There were indeed ducks in the area but they were playing at the other end of the pond. I took a ton of photos of them. Funny thing - here I was hoping to catch a cache of fall photo shots and I was shooting duckies.

Thanks again for your kind comments, Steve.

You know, I don't think that's a tombstone in the front yard - but it
could be. Wow - that's even more scary! LOL! There were people living
here and there was a truck parked beside the house. We both saw the
house as we were going through the town and my husband turned around
so I could take a photo. After we left, he kept asking, "Did you get
a picture of that truck?" I wasn't sure, but I said, "Yes" because I
didn't want to go back in the event the owners exited the house with
their shotguns.
I can't believe someone lives there.
We stopped at a convenience store in town that had 'Hunt's Pizza' and
believe it or not, it was the tastiest meal we had on the trip! Huge
slices and the pizza sauce was really sweet - not whangy or bitter.
And the store was spotless.
Hunt's Pizza..what's that?

And "Whangy". You just make up that word? 8-) Sounds like what might describe the people living in the house?
Simon was a bouncing ball of fur so thank goodness he sleeps 20 out
of 24 hours a day. I smiled when I read about your ferret (we often
call Simon our weasel and have several nicknames for him including
Monster and Twinkie) (yes, I fear we are looney tunes). At one time
we rescued ferrets and inherited two ancient ones names George and
Wheezie - which sounds much like your Wheezer.
One time I took two older ferrets from an ad in paper cause the people didn't want to pay vet to have them treated. Ear infection on one and bad liver on other. Had them treated but both only lived another year or so.
Thanks for commenting, Bill!

Welcome back, Sky! Sounds like you had fun even without the foliage color! You stories are such a hoot! "Fat Man's Squeeze"???? Is there really such a place? Sounds like another invention to me. lol

You got some great shots and I especially enjoy the Elephant Rocks and the window wall!

'All the world's a stage.

Bill - you guys were sweethearts taking in those little sick ferrets.

As for 'whangy' that indeed is a 'Sky Word'. Over the years, I suppose that I've developed a personal vocabulary for words that should exist, but don't. LOL

And yes, people did live in the Bate's Motel. The truck was a classic and there were signs that the place was inhabited. But by only God knows what.....

And yes indeedy, there is a spot called Fat Man's Squeeze. Isn't that funny? The photo isn't so hot but here it is with the little sign.

This is our latest adventure..... My husband was napping yesterday evening and I creeped in and snapped a photo of him with my R1. He sure looked handsome to me BUT when he saw it, he said that he looked dead - just laying there with his eyes closed and the remote to the TV locked in his hands. So how does one possibly remedy a photo like that?

Thanks so much for your comments, Kathy!

We hope to return for "Lucy & Ricky REALLY See Fall Colors, Part 2" very soon now. It looks like the colors are starting to thread down quickly according to the last official report. Then again, that's what got us into this quagmire in the first place!! Therefore, we'll wait just a tab longer before racing back out.

Thanks so much for commenting AND for making me smile!

just got a new meaning to me. You should have titled your post "The hunt for red October" or another fall color (Fall colors are so overrated....).

Quite a story with very nice shots to go. I liked the pelican shot best. No other tips than what Charles suggested.
