A sample from an image taken with my S1 at 1600 ISO and converted to a monochrome, I think the quality of images at this high Iso is not so bad at all for this kind of pictures. I would be glad to hear your comments.

Very nice photograph. Good photographers always find a way to make great photos....even at ISO 1600.

Yes, Very nice portrait and you got the lighting diagram just right.

Interesting, less grain(noise) in your photo than when I shot 4x5 Tri-X souped in D-76... , All night in a darkroom with developer stains on my elbows and toes.

hi, I'm interested in theatre photography, hence I'm very interested in how the s1 look at 3200 ?

just take a shot at 1600, but dail in -1 EV.

thanks :p

For some reason, my S1 has more noise and horizontal lines when shooting at 1600 (not always). This one is much sharper and less grainy.

Hi Dirk,

I shall be blind by the beauty of this picture so that I don’t see grain, spots and other high iso elements..
This is again full of emotion.
More please..

I could sell that all day long! Great!

I shoot 1600 at weddings all the time. If I know that the images will be converted to B&W, all the better. If they want something in color, I run a noise removing action on the blue channel. Or duplicate the layer, gaussian blur the new, put old layer on top, soft light with about 70% transparency. Works great with romantic images.

I love it when you talk dirty. I've been putting off purchasing Photoshop but all this technical talk is turnin' me on.--Jim DeLucoDeLuco Photographywww.delucophoto.com

I forgot to say---light some candles, put on some music and set your monitor brightness way down. But not too low or your calibration gets messed up! haha

Dear MRJ,

Thanks for your time te look and comment. Oh that's a long time ago that I used Tri-X in D-76. I love the darkroom in my computer now and finished taking analog pictures. Are you also in digital photography ?

Hi Rueyloon,

I just give it a try here but there is really to much grain then and the pictures are to dark to work with.

Hi Jim,

In the colorversion there is much noise but it's much less when converted to a monochrome or grayscale image. I also was pleased with the results, I made a few other shots from this girl that day and I liked them also, I think that I let one or two in color, maybe I shall post them to.

With kind regards,--Dirk Vermeirre

Most of the lines and noise are in blue channel, if you convert to
b/w, the photo will be much cleaner.

xin
Hi Xin,

I agree, and mostly I convert them if taken at 1600 ISO.

Hi Miel,

Thanks a lot that I could bring a touch of emotion with some grain to you.

Hi Steve,

Interesting, where do you get that noise removing action, can I find it on the net ? Thanks for your kind words to.
