On PS, I'm doing selective coloring for school yearbook, and when I create the mask and use the brush tool to reveal the color by painting the mask black it works fine. When I set the foreground color to white, since I wasn't too accurate, to change color parts back to B&W, it doesn't work. It worked fine on Photoshop 5.0 at school, but on CS2, changing the foreground and background doesn't allow me to correct. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I am not sure what your asking because painting with white does make the correction........can you explain more whats happening.

If its you can not get the default colors press the D key.....to swap the foreground background press the X key

It should work exactly as you describe. I am no expert but check the following:-

Make sure that you are actually using white (even one shade off will affect it) - ctrl + D will make sure you have black and white.

Also make sure that you have the mask selected (IE the "marching ants" around the mask thumbnail and no the picture thumbnail)

Good luck

John

You have to use the "eraser tool" to make corrections and not the brush tool with inverted background/foreground.

Not at all true.... I have never used the eraser tool for anything.
I'm with you there, the eraser gives a no going back commitment in too many situations. I've used it in illustration work, but I can't remember ever using it on photographic images.

Try it as I said ....press the D key for the default black and white colors and to change the forground background position use the X key.......make sure the mask is active and the opacity and flow is set at 100%
I am just telling you what worked for me. I couldn't get the other to
work.
