Just a rumour...

Hey Andresa !
I'm just curious where did this rumor come from?
Anyone else seen/heard anything about it?
Cheers / Johny
Hi,

I have read it in another german forum. As i said, a rumour, but it would make sense to me. The Pro70 added with more manual controls and a state of the art
CCD would be a very good competitor.

Best regards,

Andreas

I think that a Pro80 or what it will be called is a natural step, since the pro70 produces fantastic pictures (look at JaJa's pictures) but only have 1.6 mp.

So a new model with 3+mp and the pro70's quality would endeed make a winner piece!
I wonder why they haven't made that model yet, or announced anything about it.
Looking forward to hear more about it.

says that Canon will present the Canon Powershot Pro80 and another
any rumour that it will include the new Canon 10X (stabalized)
optical lens?

My S10 serves LUST FINE as the replacement for my pocket
35MM and the new Canon 10X or Sony 10X will end up my replacement
for old Minolta 35mm.... I'm perhaps unique from other Canon users
in that I do NOT have lots of $$$$$$$ invested in Canon optics
already.

model at the Photokina exhibition this year.

Hi,

No. Only that they will announce two models beside of those which already have
been announced. But your idea of using this new 10x zoom lens sounds
very good. It really would be a winner cam.

Yup. The marketing philosophy of Nikon and Canon seems to be very different
from for example Sony.

Please, let it be true!

I love the Pro 70, but am dying for an update. Canon has a big gap in their line between the new sub $1000 P&S's and the EOS D30.

Keep the same body and flip-out LCD. Give it a little more reach in telephoto, say 90mm equivalent, but definitely not at the expense of the 28mm equivalent f2.0 wide angle. Aperture priority, full manual, faster shutter speeds (no more 1/180 limit below f8.0), spot metering, manual white balance, etc.

In short, don't take anything away from an already great camera. Just add the new features that Nikon, Olympus, Sony, and the others have.

Keep it under $1500 and I'll be first in line to buy it.

I'm not even worried if it has built in flash. The Pro 70 is just too good with the 380EX.

Also the perfect description of my wishes. (Well, maybe a bit more max. focal length)

I agree with you Don. I have used the Pro-70 at work for over a year (some 4,000 shots) and still love it but feel it could use an update. I bought a CP950 for person use and while it makes great photos too, it sure is nice having an LCD you can actually SEE in daylight. I almost NEVER have to put my eye to the viewfinder with the Pro-70 and the versatile design of the LCD screen lets me take pictures at all kinds of unusual angles. For candids, I just can be beat as folks just never know when you are taking a shot.

Update the Pro-70 and I might just have to sell my Nikon!

Hope Canon can improve the IMAGE QUALITY of their d-cams. Right now, they are all quite displeasing. The images of the new digital ELPH seem to be even worse than the already not so good S10 and S20.

Took my firmware-updated S10 to a day trip last week. The images are quite bad with very DULL colors and poor details. God blessed that I brought my Oly 2020 to the trip as well. Otherwise, the memory of my whole trip would be ruined completely. Man, I really want the image quality of 2020 or Nikon Cp cameras in this sexy silver body of S10.
