i have taken enough moon pics in my short photo hobby, but when i was driving home, and saw it, my jaw dropped! I have to wait till the little ones go to bed, i am so anxious.

i can't wait to see everyone elses

Unfortunately it is raining in Philadelphia, PA. But I heard on my local PBS station that the "Hunter's Moon" is 14% larger and 40% brighter than the moon at its normal distance of approx. 240,000 miles from Earth. Due to the elliptical orbit of the moon around Earth, the Hunter's moon is at approx. 222,000 miles from the moon, thus creating the this full moon's size and brightness.

However, upon researching these "facts" on the Internet I could not verify this information.

beautiful - what were your settings? I hope to get such a nice shot
one day!!
i'll assume this is adressed at me, so here:
  1. Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/100 second = 0.01000 second
  2. Exposure Bias (EV) = 0/6 = 0.00
  3. Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 71/10 = F7.10
  4. Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
  5. Metering Mode = spot (3)
  6. Light Source / White Balance = unknown (0)
  7. Flash = Flash did not fire
  8. Focal Length = 300/1 mm = 300.00 mm
  9. Custom Rendered = normal process (0)
  10. Exposure Mode = auto exposure (0)
  11. White Balance = auto (0)
  12. Digital Zoom Ratio = 1/1 = 1.00
  13. Focal Length in 35mm Film = 450

240,000 miles is the average or mean distance of the moon from the Earth. The perigee is 223,607 miles, according to my source. That does make it markedly closer to the eye.

I know I'm a day early, but it's supposed to be cloudy tomorrow night. I'll try again if it's clear.

Cloudy here - rats! Driving home, the light clouds around the moon were spectacular, but by the time I got home it was pretty much socked in.

funny thing, I have found photographing the moon is pretty boring. They all look the same, hmmm go figure. Anyway I got my 10 shots and they look just like everyone else's. Untill I get some super lens, I think I will refrain from moon shots.
Everyones shots look great...

It's a crop (100%) of a foggy moon with clouds (it seems a bit underexposed).
