Hi All,

I actually got my UZI a month ago, but got deployed to Afghanistan 2 days after I bought it, so I never got a chance to use it. I have been back for a week now, and after using it alot, I have some questions. The only problem is that every time I search I get a message saying the search is being updated.

I want to get some more batteries for it, and was wondering if there was a higher grade that is reccomended. I don't have any experience with nicads, so I'm not sure If I should stick with the same ones or get different ones that have more power. And, If I do get new ones, will they use the charger that came with the camera? I actually had alot more questions, but my brain is stuck right now, so I'll leave it at this for now.
I appreciate any help. Thanks!

NiMH batteries are better for digital cameras. They last longer. They'll charge in the charger that came with your UZI.

I have links to a couple of battery retailers on the following page, plus other information that digital photographers might find useful:

Chris,

There is probably alot of debate about what is the best brand of batteries, but basically stick to NiHM with 1600ma or better and you should be fine. (1700's are widely available and not that expensive)

If you want a quicker charge, then the following Rayovac 1 hour charger has been getting alot of good press.

I've had good luck with both Energizer and Rayovac.

Hope this helps.

From my understanding it is best to stick with NiMH batteries,1600 MAH and up.I have 3 sets and all are different brands. They all charge just fine with the supplied charger.I'll be giving them a pretty good test today as I'm off to a car show.As for the search function it has been working just fine for me since last night.--(E) (R) If I'm ok with me I have no need to make you wrong! http://www.pbase.com/gr8full

Chris,

As a retired "DUSTOFF" pilot I just wanted to thank you for your sacrifice and to wish a warm welcome home.

I'm not a expert in this area but I know that when the search comes back up you will find numerous discussions on the pros and cons of different battery options. This is a great forum for asking questions and you will receive differing yet extremely helpful advice.

I have three different sets of Ni-MH batteries and have found them all to work without a problem. Just keep them recharged and be ready to enjoy your camera.

Chris -

Welcome home, and thank you for your service.

Just pop into a WalMart or KMart or wherever and pick up a set of Rayovac 1600 maH (milli-amp-hours) NiMH batteries. They're inexpensive, have loads of power, and are completely compatible with the Olympus charger that came with your camera. I've been very pleased with their performance in my C-2100.

Charge them up before using the first time, and re-charge them if they've stood around unused for a week or so.

I've also read that It's probably a good idea to keep the original Olympus batteries and your new set segregated during both their use and their recharging cycles. Apparently, there can be very slight differences in composition and construction between different brands of batteries, which might cause one brand to charge or discharge at a slightly different rate than another brand.
