I have a shot appearing in the May issue of Popular Photography in the "Best Shots" column. It is of a revolutionary war drummer and was taken with a D1X and Tamron 24-135mm 3.5-5.6 lens @ISO 400 (not 800 as noted) balanced for overcast as the day was cloudy (no sun).

I just got a chance to see your pic. Great photo!! Love the vibrant colors-keep up the good work.

First a big congrats :))

Also curious how well you like your Tamron 24-135.. in past I've used Tamron lenses with great luck but after reading on here I've seen mixed reviews. Still with the 1.5 multiplier the 24 - 135 would offer great range for an everyday tote one lens solution ( trips etc )

Also would love to see your photo!!!!!!!! If you can post a link I'm anxious to see it!

Hey congrats!!!

Honestly when I looked at the May images I liked yours the best! The others are all either staged or altered...great eye!

Congrats Marv! I haven't had a chance to look at the mag, please post it if possible. Thanks.--Regards,Joe H.---------------------------------------www.biggerboatstudios.com

I find the lens to be very good. I bought it primarily as a single lens for travel and often use it in situations where I know I will not be changinging lenses. So far I have not had any problems with output with it. Contrast, color and sharpness appear good. It gets me the shots I am looking for. I suppose if I did critical testing with it I would find some fault, but for my purposes it is quite adequate. I however, primarily use a Nikon 24-85mm 2.8-4.0 as my primary lens.

Unfortunately, I do not have the photo posted anywhere to be able to provide a link.

Thanks for the follow up and the good word on the Tamron. Though it is too early to make a call ( I HAVE decided to buy a DSLR tho ) I am really interested in the D100. If it lives up to expectaions it will probably be my camera of choice. Thus I will need all new glass. Price is a concern with me though I dont want to buy a bunch of cheap inferior glass. In past had had good luck with Tamron and some of the reviews on the 24-135 gave it nice marks overall. I know it is not a top of the line lens but then I am not a top of the line photographer either. I appreciate your feedback, and if the lens was good enough to make a picture to be published I'd have to say it without question would make an excellent single lens tote around for me
