Couple of Macros for C&C

Taken today near my home - the first one is a very unusual flower

Bump - sorry!

On the first, the picture seems to be a bit underexposed, and, I have to agree that the unusual subject really detracts from the shot.

On the second, the exposure appears correct and the contrast in colors is nice. However, the narrow DOF doesn't really draw me towards any particular subject. Perhaps it would've been better to stop the lens down more, increase the DOF, and include the whole grouping of berries? Just my thoughts.

These are O.K., tho' not razory sharp as i would like . . . . lens used, and shutter speed? Also, it looks like a flash was used, but it may have benefited from being a li'l less direct, as lighting seems a bit harsh to me . . . bounce or diffusion possible next time?
