Hi!

I figured I'd give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Never know until you try, and all the other cliches... LOL!

So, I went for abstract on the most part. First, I looked at what was already in the abstract category and figured I had some that were a bit different. They're old, but I pulled up the originals and reworked them. Recropped them and saved them to 600 pixels on the high side and pressed the submit button.

Jens had warned me the acceptance rate was pretty low, so I wasn't expecting much, thank goodness! HA!

I've put on lots of armor, so C&C if you want. :D

All taken w/*istDS, Pentax FA50mm. Some using V2XMFTC. Probably the octagons/bokeh turned everyone off, but I kind of liked them...

Fiber Optic Sunset

Burst of Green

The gallery is an awesome site and I think everyone has submitted powerful photos. I find the voting experience very fun and educational!

Hi Tracy!

I don’t know what is going on with PPG but I like the first 5 images. To me “Blue Indoor Fireworks” and “Burst of Green” look phenomenal.

I like them quite a bit...I don't think you (or anyone here) needs validation from PPG to prove these are eye-catching.

Well, I liked them anyhow. The last one was my favorite, but it is not sharp enough to shave with those blades. You know how those "sharp sharks" are! LOL

'This is more serious than I thought.....but it is still fun!

Well these show the PPG knows nothing about art! ;-p

I think they are all great Tracy. Every thought of printing up a triptych with these? I think it would be grand. Thanks for taking the time to share these here. I really enjoyed them.

I remember some of these shots! Liked them then as well. The octagonal/heptagonal bokeh is a bit distracting - nice round bokeh would be lovely on those. I do like the first blue, the aqua, and the green ones though. And, were those the skates that momentarily took the place of the coveted 77?

Tracy,

Pah, who cares about the Pentax gallery, they're all nice except for the last one, where I think it should have been lit a little better... i.e. soft-diffused light from above, a-la softbox.

cheers.

Hi!

George and Chris: Thanks! The blue one is my second favorite and the green one is the one that has the all time most hits in my popular gallery after the picture of my parents with my daughter.

Spazzo: Glad you liked them! I wasn't really expecting them to be accepted, but I didn't expect them to be declined so fast - 1 day then WHAM! LOL!

Rupert, Terry, Betsy, Asad, and James: Glad you liked the skates shot. Yes, Betsy, that was the one where I wanted the FA77 and my daughter got skates instead. Somebody remembered!! I agree that a different, directional lighting might make it more special. I might try to play around with the PowerRetouche lighting filter and see what I get.

Hamidltd: Thanks! I know it's going to be hard to find something that the gallery judges like, but the trying is part of the fun.

LaRee: Thank you very much! I rarely get the 'print it' response and it's encouraging. But I don't print things much, either. We've lived in our current house for just over 6 years and I have 7 pictures hanging - 5 in a group on one wall in the kitchen and 2 in a group on the opposite wall. The rest are bare. LOL!

Bob: Sure! Thanks! Just use the right-click menu to save them. These are the full-size photos I sent in to the gallery.

Wet Duck

Gettysburg

Ants

Honeysuckle

Dahlia

Red Dahlia

Iridium Flare

I had hopes for 'Honeysuckle' and 'Dahlia' but figured 'Red Dahlia' would be declined due to the width being non-standard. The others are old ones that I reworked just to see how they would do.

I'm sure it's very satisfying to have images on display, but you can certainly be proud of all of these. I just love your abstracts and somehow missed them the first time around. The second set looks super to me, too.

i love every one of them for a different reason! those ice skates bring back a lot of memories as i had a pair much like them! good goin' girl!

i particularly like the duck!

with the Dahlia, look at it here unopened all the way, move the bottom slider just about 1/2 inch to the right. don't get me wrong, i think it is beautiful the way it is opened up, but try my suggestion and see if you don't like the off centered version.

the honeysuckle doesn't 'pop' quite enough to grab the eye, try adding some contrast?

gettysburg -- is this a place you can get back to easily? i'd like to see what it looks like with all wall behind the bust.

keep takin' those pics!

Yes, but again, if I recall correctly, photo_dad came through shortly thereafter with an excellent gift! I forget though whether you got the silver or black (black is better by the way!).

You need to get to work! 7 total?! Time to start printing, framing, and hanging.
