I wasn't sure how this would turn out, and afterwards I found I shot HQ JPG, so there was very little wiggle room in PP.

E-500, OM 50/1.8 @ 1.8, 1/30th, ISO 400, Manual mode

CWA metering indicated -2.3 EV, but I went with my gut. Looks like I was right.

I didn't see the flare on my calibrated monitor on the MAC, but on my XP laptop I just noticed a terrible flare on the upper right side of the pic!

Thanks for looking Alan - they couldn't believe we were setting off fireworks in the house. :)

Excellent Capture... don't worry about the flare it would be fairly easy to remove and with so much bright action on the left you're eye isn't really drawn toward it.

Trust me, no one cares about the flare. The photo is priceless!! Well done.

I just saw a site with a contest going on for shots in candle light and I think this one would have a good chance at a win. Your son is such a cute boy! Oops...such a handsome young man! (he is 6 now!). I always enjoy your photos of him, they're very good.

If I happen to see that contest (or anyone else) I'll give you the link. Drat, I wish I could remember! It may have been from Olympus? If I run across it I'll for sure let you know.

it is from Pbase.com I don't know what the prize is but it doesn't cost a cent to enter. Here is a link

I appears to just be for fun and is simular to the Olympus Challenges I think. Well, when I saw your great shot it made this come to mind. I didn't look that closely because I knew I didn't have any shots like that. Well... that was what I saw...no great prizes that you could share with me. ROFL ;o))

Please feel free to criticize, make suggestions, and edit any of my photos & re-post, to help show me 'the way'. * I am trying to Elevate the Level of my 'Snap Shots' :)
Guess I will need a pic of my e510 soon ...

Thanks so much for looking and your kind comments! Looks like I was a little stymied with the contest by my son's birthday (the contest closed on 10/8), but I wouldn't have it any other way. We had a great birthday on his actual birthday (today!).

Thanks again.

...thanks for looking! I've seen some nice low light work from you with the ZD 50/2 and while I don't do half bad with the OM50 focus wise, it would be nice to have AF once in a while on my low light lens.

Thanks again.
