It's about time Phil finished up with any full review of D300, D3, 40D and A700.

Since he's been working on several camera's full review I don't know which one will come out first. I wouldn't be surprised if the D300 full review came out last. Nikon seems to be really tight-mouth about image quality of their new cams, so they might've told Phil when he should release his full review of the D300/D3.

If any review came out on Halloween, it would be a real trick and treat.
But let's hope we won't have to wait that long. :)

Ditto... the only true blue review is YOUR review... in your hands, with your style of shooting. IMO&E, test charts and studio set up scenes are good info, but not worth basing your purchase by... unless of course you're into shooting test charts and lightbox set ups with the exact same lighting and peripheral equipment the reviewer used.

... to D-Preview since the Amazon take over : (

Maybe Phil is spending a lot of time in Tahiti sunning himself..maybe we will see smaple picks of the beach there instead of the view from the Southbank when he finally gets round to doing a review hopefully sometime before PMA 2008 : )

...so you have not seen Phil's any camera's full review ? He does both a studio/field test shots. When it comes to an important purchase, whether it's a camera ,a HD TV, or a car,I do a good research including some reviews.
I don't like a surprise or remorse after my purchase.

For the past several years, I purchased several cameras based on Phils' reviews and knowing about pros/cons of a camera I wanted to buy,I haven't had any remorse at all.

And I will do the same with the D300. For this particular camera,I just want to know how good its AF system and live view are. Image quality in my guess, should be better that of D200.

Maybe Phil wants to keep up the good review and not "I'm the first review"

As often, Phil is not the first one, but one of the best if it goes to depth and comparison

The D300 and D40 lay close to each other by means of (marketing and) specifications. If Phil wants to do an up to date comparison, he needs both cameras' So it is waiting time.

I guess, we will see reviews in the following order: 40D, D3, 1Ds Mark II and D300. I might be wrong of course. :-)

I made my descision already after the 6 minutes of useful fun with the D3 (1 minute by the way at a kaiten sushi bar in Osaka :-)

I think the first review will be the 1D MIII, which hasn't come out yet. I have to be amazed, that it hasn't happen yet!

Then there will be quite a lot of others before D300, because on paper those two are about the same! I think.

And for sure, Phil can't compare a camera at 4000 € against another at 2000€!

Phil's D200 review came out 2 full months after I had mine in my hands.

It's a long process, and he doesn't even have a production camera yet.

seeing as their are no production cameras at this point...The d300 and d3 will be awhile, look for the D40 before either

Does it always take 2+ months to review a new camera? Thats about 5 cameras per year; strange way to run a Digital Photography Review site.

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular, but DPR reviews are the first place I go to to check out a cameras specs. I completely disregard the test charts and set ups as they have no meaning whatsoever to me, but I do peek at the real world shots for a better example of what that body will do. Word of mouth from those I respect means much, much more.

I, and many others, still stand by the "once it's in your hands, you have your review."

Seriously, yes, the reviews won't be started until production bodies are released. I'm sure Phil won't have to wait 3 months on back order for his though. So maybe the reviews will be up by mid December at the soonest for the Nikons. The 40D could have a review up in the next few weeks.

It's unlikely he will put out a review on a camera that has not been shipped yet. Likely the 1D3 and 40D reviews will be out first, then the a700, then d300 a month or two after it starts shipping.

Remember that most people don't buy cameras when they just come out. Most camera buyers are making purchases of cameras that have been out for 6 months to a year. And most buyers are not forum members of this site. :)

Not sure if this is true or not?? I want a new DSLR soon, but will wait until the D300 comes out - thus the delay on the 40D review is not that big a deal to me. I do hope for a very timely D300 review however. Please :)

I'll just save everyone a lot of time and get to the point.

The D300 has some very impressive qualities and features. None of that really matters though, as there is no doubt that most folks will find something to be disappointed about after buying one.
