I will really value any opinions, suggestions and tips because I've had a lot of trouble with this photo. I'm convinced that there is a decent picture in here somewhere, and I have tried many times to find it!

It was evening and the low sun put a wonderful golden light on the trees and rocks, unfortunately I overexposed the sky a bit. and generally failed to "get it right in the camera" which is usually the best start. ;-)

Here's the photo with all the raw settings put to default, I promise you the sky was full of pink! The next post has a larger version to work from. And I'll show my best try (to date) sometime. Good going,
Regards, Michael

Great shot! It doesn't really need much work, but here's a slightly surreal go (crop, solarization, histogram equalization, mid-tone darkening, increase saturation):
Mike.

Hi everyone. I've been reading posts on this forum for over two years. It was this forum, in part, that made me decide to get an A2 as my first '"real" digiital" camera
to replace my SRT-101. Air travel with film was getting to be too much trouble.

I've gotten some very good information from this forum, but most of all, I like the way everyone treats each other. I hope I can contribute and help this forum stay afloat.
Below is a link to my "giveitago" - I hope I did it right and you can get to it.
My "postprocessing" consisted of
applying a warming filter to deepen the blue in the sky
copying the photo onto a layer - changing the blend to screen
adding a layer mask - and allowing the darker sky to come through
(flattened image)
added additional "render- lighting efffects onto the distant landscape
minimal curve applied.
enjoy.

That's a lovely shot, reminds me of "Wuthering Heights" scenery. Have now got Photoshop but haven't got a clue how to take it from here to there. Have done a right click, save picture as, and then it just saves it into Picasa, so, I've had a go there.

Well, I tried, too... I may have overdone the saturation, it's really quite hard to tell with the notebook screen I had to use for this.

Greetings,

Martin

I finally figured out how to get the actual picture into the post

My goal was to try to capture the scene, and not be to artistic with techniques, color and lighting.
  • also had to adjust the sizing on the web photo album page. All the details of the adjustments are in the earlier post - I change - I used a cooling filter to adjust the sky color (not a warming filter as originally stated.

Hi all'

Ive opened your go's in different windows and can toggle between them. There seem to be two versions; evening light and daylight - oh and Mike's go, which I love! and is certainly dramatic. Sandra and Barry did the daylight versions. Martin and msk77 did the evening ones.

I'm going to pick msk77's as the one that appeals to me most because it has brought out more detail and looks most like the scene as I remember it.
Sandra's go is next best IMO.
So msk77; bring it on! #17 awaits.
My own version is (annoyingly) at my work pc - so may show it tomorrow.

I wonder how many people lurk without ever posting?
Well, I believe we all do our share of lurking - I know I do - even if I don't always find the time to participate or respond, as in this thread. Enjoyed what's been done in this HAG, nevertheless.

However, I'm sure there are many many full-time lurkers watching and listening all the time, even as you are reading this (spoooky...). Some of them show up on the forum as soon as a thread is posted that has a technical or otherwise (now) uncommon topic.

So keep it down now, will ya? And watch your back!
