i know the site said that shipping was expected to start today so i figured that they would have started getting their major shipments by now. I called to see if this was true. the gentleman on the phone said they began shipping about 2 weeks ago in small quantities (this is of course old news...). he said about 50 have been shipped so far (which means i'm about 15 on the waiting list now!). he said they should be getting the first of their major shipments next week, although he had no idea how many camera's would be coming in per shipment. This may be old news to some, so i apologize if i wasted your time with this, but for those of you who are on the list at ssd and can't wait to get thier d60, like myself, i hope this info is helpful =)

Gibs do you know if Streets meant that 50 have been shipped from them or that Canon have shipped only 50 total? I'm number 99 thats why I woul like to know. I hope to get mine by the end of the month if I can.

I placed an order with SSD around March 31/April 1 and am #195 on the list... This is the response I got today (and btw, I appreciate their quick reply):

You are currently number 195 on our pre order list. We are waiting to get confirmation from Canon on our next allocation. We will email you as soon as we hear from them. Once we find out how many will arrive in the first allocation we will have a better idea of when your order will ship.

The guy said that ssd has shipped about 50 so far. I'm not sure how many canon has sent out in total so far...
Interesting. On 3/4 (before any D60's had shipped) SSD told me that I was number 32 on the list. More recently they have told me that I am number 4 on the list. That would imply that they have shipped 28 or fewer (if some orders were canceled), unless they use different arithmetic.

Due to overwhelming demand for this model Canon will most likely not have sufficient quantity to fill their dealers backorders all in one shipment. Orders will be filled on a first-in, first-out basis as shipments arrive.
At the end of March Canon released a small, preliminary quantity of EOS-D60's that allowed us to fill about 17 of our backorders. We are expecting to fill the remainder of our backorders very quickly once Canon starts their regular shipments next week.
Shipments of the EOS-D60 base model (No AC/Charger or Battery) will start sometime around May 1st.

I just pre-ordered today and was told that there were about 260 people before me. (Oh boy...). They said that they are expecting to fill these orders by the end of the month (and I asked twice to confirm.).

I've had one on order from Canoga since late February. Lost confidence late last week, and started looking at small camera shops in Arkansas. Found a place that had 4 cameras on the way to them from Canon, and I got #4. I should have it in my hands on Thursday.
Of course I just got in line. But the point that they sent me an email too is encouraging.
A bit of a wait, but at least the ball is rolling...:

Originally SSD said they were getting a shipment of 6 cameras on 5 April, and at the time I was number 7. They also mentioned that they were supposed to be getting regular shipments the second week of Apri.
Did they ever get those 6 cameras? Are they shipping now? I have no idea, maybe someone in front of me canceled. As you can tell from this thread just yesterday (monday) they had no idea when they were getting their next shipment and the next day (tuesday) I get an email saying the camera has been sent.
