Just purclhased and received my Canon 580II, already had to 430's.

I am absolutely falling in love with the wireless flash features. Can't believe I've been missing this all along. I'm sure my alien bees are going to see less use now.

I'm sure I'll be having many questions as I practice more with this setup... my first question however is when setting the ratios say to 4:1 what is actually happenning?

Are you bumping the power up on the A group or decreasing power output on the B group. The manual doesn't REALLY tell you, it just states that more power will come from the A group then the B.

Anyone know or am I just looking at this completely wrong. You would think the B group would receive a power decrease to keep the A group from over exposing... right?

Thanks in advance,

P.S. if you have any helpful tips for shooting with wireless speedlites, please do share.

Even though I don't visit this forum as much as I use, this is actuallly the first time I have a post go unanswered... don't know if it's just a dumb question or a hard one?

Anyone???

I feel your pain. Can't answer your question but here is a DVD from Amazon that might help. I have been thinking about getting another flash, so you think it's worth it? I currently own 580EX and thinking about getting the 480EX. But for now I am just trying to get a handle on using a single flash. Two maybe overload for the time being...
