Two questions.

My local photo store says they can't get the 2100 and that it has been discontinued. Is this true?

Secondly, are all the references to "UZI" referring to the 2100?

Thanks.

Canon hasn't announced that the C-2100 has been discontinued.
And they may never do this, but the signs are on the wall. You cant go
and just buy one,you have to look first then see if they have them in stock
then get it before they run out.Thats discontinued to me anyway. They
are selling what they have left and they will continue to do so until there
are no more.--jazzman

Why would they stop making the C2100 without having a successor to the 2100 ready to roll?

Seems like it leaves a lot of people hanging who wanted what the 2100 offered.

It just makes sense to sell out the old stock before announcing the new, so that people are still interested...I'll bet they have a replacement, as long as there hasn't been a problem with Canon.

That may be discontinued to you, but it's not discontinued until Olympus says it's discontinued. People with nothing better to do than start rumors started spreading that one in this forum last August. The camera is STILL available.

Oly lost their butt on the UZI and the E100. The only reason they became popular is when the price went down to less than half for the UZI and about a third for the E100. Why would Oly make a replacement for a camera or cameras that were a loser in their book? I'm thinking about getting another one before they're all gone as mine has over 12,000 photos taken with it already... :o(

This rumor has been around since before this time last year. No one has ever produced any proof on this forum that it is discontinued. They are however, harder to get a hold of.

Hi!

I just ordered my cam here in sweden and I squeezed my retailer a bit and learned that they're receiving a shipment of 20 cameras this week. This would indicate that the camera is still available.

I also happened to read a post, in this forum, that included a statement from a Oly rep. It was stated there that the camera was not discontinued.

Try Walmart or CompUSA...The rumor also seems to be they're the last stores that have em...& for only $500 too...
and that it has
been discontinued. Is this true?
The jury's still out on this one since Oly hasn't posted anything definative..

Well to each his or her own.I dont go by what one says,I go by what
they do and the way olympus is handling the distribution of the 2100
is nothing short of getting rid of stock or a least making the last few
with remaining parts. With these signs if one wants to wait for Oly to
say Hey thats it thats thier choice.Kmart does not sell high end cameras
then why are they selling the uzi, simple the stores that usually would have
them cant make money of them.I never said they were discontinued,it is
not for me to say,but I stick by my opinion that thats how they are being
handled,so if one wants one why wait to here Oly anounce the fact and
if one does not want one why worry in the first place.Rumour or not.--jazzman

I bought one last Friday at CompUSA and they had 66 in stock.
