Hi Everyone,
I will be travelling to Mackinac Island this weekend for a photo shoot.
I am hoping that the colors have changed up north as here, in the Detroit
area they already are changing.

I was wondering if you have any site suggestions for some good photographs.

My husband and I will be taking our children to the Fort on the Island as well as across the bridge and into St. Ignace.

We are all very excited to see the colors and the sites. :)

Melissa,

If you like lighthouses, take the last exit before the bridge (traveling north) to Old Mackinac Lighthouse (there's also a fort the kids would love at that exit). Great photos of the bridge from the shore, also.

Have a wonderful time,

Janet

Hi, I was in Traverse City Labor Day weekend and my wife noticed the reds were showing on some of the trees. I would love to try Tahquamenon Falls the next time I am in the area of the U. P. We will try to find some color in Mi or Wis in October. I will watch for your post of your trip.

If you have the time it would be worth your while to visit Petoskey and Harbour Springs either prior to or following the visit to Mackinaw Island...plan on approximately thirty-five minutes to your primary destination.Petoskey also comes with a camera shop which could assist you in a pinch and is located in the Gas Light district.Weather looks perfect for your venture and many would call it warm for this time of year...enjoy the time away from the City and remember batteries and extra cards !! The drive from Harbour Springs to MC overlooks Lake Michigan and will afford outstanding photo ops !

I live in the traverse city area. The colors are just starting to change, there isn't much yet. While you are on the island I would sugest going to the butterfly house. It is a short walk from the piers. I am sure that not only you will enjoy it but your kids will also. They have all kinds of live butterflys in there. If you have a macro lens that would be helpfull. I do hope you enjoy your trip. There is also a old operating saw mill just to the south of Mackinaw that is pretty neat.

enjoy

Thanks Janet. I have not been to this lighthouse before. We had a wonderful time in Mackinac. I have to finish working on my album so that I can post my photos.
Here is one of the lighthouse. :)

And thank you everyone else for all the great suggestions.
Our time on Mackinac Island was grand. The ride over and back was so much fun!

Melissa,

That's a great pic - I love the bridge in the background. Wish I had thought of it when I was there!

Janet

Edit: Looking forward to seeing more from your trip.
