after all of the recent speculation regarding "Trine," odd sensors, et al, the infamous, unsubstantiated (?) PDF is 100% correct?

Add to that, based on statement quoted on this Forum, the E-3[P-1] is, in fact, the autofocus champion of all cameras.
I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying...

While I have no concrete information as yet, reliable sources seem to indicate that the PDF may in fact, be fact.

BTW, I have no association with MilSuper... ;-)

the pdf was deliberately leaked, and only contains what Oly wanted the world to know, or think we know, anout the upcoming camera... It may or may not be accurate, but the camera won't fall short of the expectations the document generated... well, probably, anyway (g)

Regardless of all the speculation, I have no doubt that the E-3 will be a big step technically forward from the E-1. Unless, Oly proves me wrong by doing something really dumb, I will be buying at least one not long after they come available. If it pans out to be anywhere the quality of the E-1 I'll buy a back up shortly down the road. Then I will set my sights on a new lens to add to my arsenal (I wish Louis would sell me his 7-14mm cheap! :-))

By the way, I've been meaning to tell you that I like the images you've been capturing with your 11-22mm!

God Bless,
Greg

While I won't be an initial buyer I do understand your needs as one who's income is derived from his photographic talent. Were I in your shoes, I'd be very, very excited about this new camera.

Thank you very much. Your comments have always meant a lot to me.

of course you're right - the PDF is, in fact, fact (you worded this nicely :-).

But up to Oct. 17th it's dream time for us Oly folks. Nothing to worry about. People need dreams.

When we wake up on Oct. 17th, we'll soon have a nice new flagship with up-to-date technology to put our good lenses on.

Cheers,

Claus.

Now, this is pure speculation, but I would not be surprised if we learn a lot more prior to 10/17. The time is near...

Personally, I've never had a doubt the PDF was fact (as I posted right when it was released), but the real question is: "What else does the E-3 bring to the table?"

Since no one actually listened to this presentation, no one knows how these features were pitched, and moreover, what things were said that weren't listed in the bullets. That's how pitches like this go, you put a talking point in a bullet and you talk to it.

We all missed the talking, so I expect we're in for a few surprises on Oct. 17th despite the PDF being 100% accurate.

that the Wicked Olympus Marketing Gang (who have risen from the ashes: getting the announcement of an announcement onto the front page of dpreview a couple of days ago ... wow:-) will have another surprise for us!??

Interesting times :-)

Claus.

If it is, I for one will be disappointed, as without SWM lenses it’s only a 510 on steroids. At the expected AU$3000 it would be very hard to justify the purchase as you could buy two 510s with kit lenses. Or dread of dread the S5!! If so oly has shot itself in the foot again.

As one who has a fair commitment to oly glass I hope you are wrong, as I was planing on buying one fairly quickly after release. If not it will be the E510.

PS what happened to the E3 in space??

Bill, I agree my gut feeling is there will be a couple of rabbits in the hat. Oly have a habit of giving the unexpected, bit extra of an edge thingie, just not often enough of late.

I just came back from the Dominican Republic where I shot 6000 pictures (fashion for a magazine) with my E500 which I love. What I was missing is a vertical grip (for when I attach a sunpak flash to the camera) faster focussing of course and a pc connection for a studio flash that I took with me (in case of rain). From what I remember from the PDF document if all is true, I will buy the E3 in a hart beat, cant wait for that day. My E500 is up to over 50,000 shutter movements, it is time for me to get the E3.

I do own an E1 witch I use for studio work for small catalog pictures, but an E3 at 10 megapix or more would be perfect.

And I certainly hope that the E3 has a flash on it, I use that flash quite often when I shoot in the sun. It is a life saver.

S.

All I want is 8 - 10MP, more AF points, faster AF in low light, true mirror lockup, noise and dynamic range as good or better than the E-1, same or better build quality.

Oh, and the one thing required before I buy any more Olympus equipment - the 14-35mm f2.

Regards,
Scott
