Hi,

I'm on a Mac running OS 10.4.10 and trying to install DPP 3.1. Unfortunately, when the dialog box saying, "Preparing to install Digital Photo Professional" comes up, it just stalls and won't progress. Is anyone else having a similar problem? Repaired permissions but still having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Ok then. Can I at least get a show of hands of who has successfully installed DPP 3.1 on a Mac? PowerPc or Intel? Thanks.

No problem here. I installed it on my MacbookPro. But it takes a while. Maybe you should have some patience?

Installed on my Mac G4 daul 1.25 ghz OS X 10.4.10 no problems

Okay, thanks guys. Looks like it could be a problem just on my Mac. Auuuugggghhh!

Have you, by chance, an earlier version on your Mac? A lady in the Mac forums had a similar issue, because she already had a folder named "Canon Utilities" on her HD, and the installer, uh, stalled (for lack of a better word). If so, rename the old folder or drag it to the desktop, and then try reinstalling the new set of Canon utilities.

The new versions all installed just fine on my MBP, but I deleted all the older versions before installiing the set that came with the 40D. I had a few crashes doing this on a windows box - installing new Canon stuff without deleting the old versions.

I have a MacBook running 10.4.10 and the application just stalls for me, too. I don't have an older version of the Canon software installed. As a test, I installed the application from the same disk on my buddy's PowerBook and it's running just fine.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.
Ingrid

Might be a dumb question, but how did you install it from your friend's powerbook?

It happened to me once in the past with a previous version of DPP, on a G5 Mac. I thought it was a problem with the CD or something, so I tried to install on my second (G4) Mac and it went fine. Now, as far as I remember, I did the permission repair, disk cleanup (back then with Norton Utilities) and PRAM reset. One of those things did the trick and the installation went smoothly. I have a MacBook Pro now and the latest version that came with 40D installed just fine.

Sorry, allnak, for any confusion. I tried to install the application on my Macbook and it choked. Then we tried the same CD on the old Powerbook and it installed successfully. Then we tried transferring from the Powerbook to the Macbook via my portable hard drive, but that didn't work, either. So I haven't figured out a work-around. Ingrid

Thanks everyone for the responses so far. I've tried deleting all previous DPP files using Appzapper and that didn't do the trick either. Looks like a few others are having problems too.

It worked for me...
I have both powermac G5 IBM dual CPU 1.8ghz
and intel macbook 2.0ghz

so I dont see why anyone would have any problems because I was able to get DPP to work on both platforms
