How many use the adapter, and what filters/tc on it.? Do you like it? I used them over time with various cameras but cannot remember if I cared for them or not. It seems to me they take away from the appearance of the camera but are handy to use for holding as well as use of filters, etc. Just interested in other's thoughts about this. Thanks for any comments. I am primarily concerned with G9.

Hi Russ, I use the adapter on my A620 mainly I use it for a UV filter.. And for close-up lens... I like them it also adds protection and keeps dust out.. I bought from lensmate as well they are pretty good.. I don't like the tele photo lens from them the glass does not give clean lines in the pictures..

I have one on my G7 and S5. It adds to the handleing of both, filters for protection and to keep dust out of lens mechanical parts

I use one on my A610 mostly for macros with a Raynox close-up lens. With that set up on the cam and zoomed out full you have a few inches instead of right on the subject. I also use it with a polarizer once in a while.

I just received the lensmate and a G9 in the mail today. The lensmate fits real well and is helpful for holding a protective UV filter... feels good too. I bought it to protect the lens primarily and will probably try one of the Teleconverters on it. It will be harder to pack around with it on negating some of the perks of P&S but oh well. By the way, the G9 is twice the camera that my previous S50 was. I do like the leather case available that reminds me of my old Voightlander Prom.. Too bad it won't work with the lensmate. Just now looking at case options.

Which case are you referring to, the 5000? I have thought of getting some kind but never have used a case with any of my cameras. Hang them around my neck wherever I go.

I have 3 Lensmate adapter tubes. One 58mm holds my UV filter which is attached most all of the time, another 58mm is attached to my Sony TC lens and makes for quick changes and a 52mm has my polarizer filter attached to it for quick changes. I like them a lot and I also like the way they look on the camera.

Here is a picture of the S3 with the 52mm and a UV filter attached. I no longer use this exact setup, but it gives you an idea. IMHO, Lensmate is the Cadillac of lens adapters.

Russ, I think it's the SC DC55C. It looks like and operates exactly like my old rangefinder's case from the 50's. It protects well and can be hung around your neck or used with a haness. In any event, it is nice looking and utilitarian. You would still need a larger bag for other stuff but the minimalist in me wants one.

Well, that sounds good to me. I want just a case for the G9. I can stick a battery in my pocket. No more carrying a lot of gear. That is one reason I sold all my DSLR stuff. Thanks, and I will look one up.They are good protection.

When I take the wide angle converter lens off, I attach a Canon 58mm Haze UV-1 glass filter to it to protect the G9 lens. However, I enjoy shooting in wide angle and have been leaving the wide angle converter lens attach to the Lensmate converter lens.

Hi Russ

I just got my G9 to replace my A640. I used to have the Canon lens adapter for the A640 but it fit very sloppy and and seemed fragile. I then got the Lensmate and it was a world of difference, for the better. Fit tight and was solid.

I now have the G9 + Lensmate. The adapter fits very snugly and is very high quality. I use it for my Oly TCON-17 tele via a 58-55 adapter ring (500 mm with 1.4X digital zoom!!!). Like others, I also use a protective filter on the lens mate when not using the TC.

For full time use of Lenmate:

Pros: 1)Significantly improves the handling of this P&S for someone like me with big hands. You can grab onto the barrel of the adapter and help to steady your shots.
2)Protects the lens

3) ???? MAYBE protects against the dust problem of the G7 (this is VERY questionable)

Cons: 1)At full tele the lens will hit the back of the filter attached to the Lensmate, so you have to either restrict the tele by a tiny amount or screw the filter out a turn and a half (then duct tape in position:)
2)Its not longer pocketable
3)Vignetting with the flash at wider angles
4)Obstructs the OVF some

Hope this helps!

top notch product, I have one of their adapters for my A640
good fit no wobbles like some of the other mfg adapters have,
I have a number of filters I use on it, and have just purchased a Wide Angle
lens which works great They are good people to work with, order their
product and in around 4 days you get it. Reason I say that is they do not
send you an Email to verify that product was shipped

I found out that when I zoom too close to the back end of the wide angle lens, the G9 will shut down. Therefore, I have to be a little careful when zooming with the wide angle lens attached to the Lensmate lens adapter. Just have to restart the G9 and continue to take pictures. That must be a feature to prevent the Canon G9 lens from touching the end of the wide angle lens when zooming.

your cons were what I was worried about. I feel strongly about the appearance of the G9 and hate to mar that in any manner.

I use the wide angle canon adapter with a lensmate and it does not hit the lens on my G7 or the filters I use. Using the lensmate with a polarizing filter works for me, gives me a good grip for my left hand and steadys the camera.
