I took my beloved G2 to the camera shop today so they could ship it to Canon and get it repaired. I suspect it will be weeks until I see it again.

Isn't it funny how... the more you pay for something, and the more conscious you are of its safety and condition, the more likely you are to damage it?

I'm sure if I had walked next to a boiled pit of molten lava, my G2 would've jumped from my hands, and plummeted to its ultimate demise.

I spent a month running around taking pictures without a protective carrying case. I thought, "Geez, I should really get a case for this thing, or something is going to happen." Well, I went out and got a padded carrying case, and until then, nothing happened!

Rest-assured, once it was in that padded carrying case, I started dropping it, and lobbing errant horseshoes at it. Yes... horseshoes. I can barely hit the opposite stake, and yet I scored a ringer around my camera bag.

I didn't know whether I should take it to a camera shop, or an automotive body shop. The failure of the camera wasn't catastrophic. The flash simply stopped working, but the dented exterior of the camera was much more impressive.

I don't have a point. I'm just sharing my misfortune. Please keep your fingers crossed that the repair is quick and relatively painless!--Chris (JeepCache)

I have a Land Rover Discovery - I will try to post some pics of impossible positions; if, and when I can get them!!

great photos, and a great car by all looks!

as already said, I will try and 'compete' soon with 4x4 impossible situations.

In the meantime, my G2 should be arriving tomorrow. So give me the time to get the camera working, and then to find some 'hotspots' for the car!!!

Hey Jeep you should have just blamed the damage on the cracking problem. I know how ya feel though. You try SO HARD to keep your camera in perfect condition, you baby it, you sing it a lullaby at night, and all be damned if something doesn't happen anyway. I hope the camera finds it's way back to you in a hurry. No fun being without it.

Well, I did and it had a dent.

So I went to Canon Asia in Singapore and bought the replacement back, they even transferred the serial number label for me onto the new body there and then, and, with just a few screws, replaced it myself. It had costed S$42 (US$25).

Was this in the interests of introducing a new sport or pasttime, or were you just at the end of your tether at this moment ? What scoring system did you eventually come up with ?

I wouldn't use my camera every day. Sometimes, an entire week or two would go by without me taking any pictures. Thats not the issue.

Now that my camera is temporarily absent, some grandiose scene, much like the colorful setting of a Skittles commercial, is going to unfold before me ... and where will my camera be?

It will be at Canon, because I lobbed a horseshoe at it. :)
2.02 days have passed.

Why do I see you sitting on a porch like a dog waiting for the mail
man Chris only to see your head dip down when he drives by.
