Does anyone use a Lensmate lens adapter on a G7 or a G9?

I read about this somewhere in this forum. I'm interested in
the adapter for two main reasons: protecting the lens mechanism,
and using filters.

I'd love to hear about people's experience with this product.

Thanks,
Ernie

I use the lensmate and a uv filter on my S5 and find it to be a excellent product. It also aids in holding the camera as you can put your hand under it and gives it a SLR feel. Thinking about one for my G7 but will have to get a new case to fit it.

I use it on my G7. Bought primarily so I can use a circular polarizer and an IR filter, but I have found it to be very useful when I have the 430EX flash attached. The flash makes the camera really difficult to handle but the adapter makes it feel almost like a SLR. As far as the lens mechanism protection goes, I would not be able to say (do not really want to test this...), but, can imagine that it would protect the lens if the camera was dropped. The only thing I do not like is that the viewfinder becomes useless especially at wide angles.

The adapter is well worth the price and highly recommended.

Like the others have posted...

adds lotts of balance and its a well built product...

I bought an extra to use with the G9... but have not
found a G9 to purchase as of yet...

works great for filters... and it just looks cool on these cam's...

I too want one of those Lensmate adapters for my G7 (or G9 if I replace my current buggy one with that instead) for the added handling stablility and the added protection that it and a filter would give the front element and lens mechanism. Also, it is possibly much less likely to allow dust to enter that area and even the sensor which some other G7 owners have had a problem with.

Elsewhere I have read that the filters that can be used with it are cheaper due to the filter size compared to other adapters like the Canon (plastic!) one.

I'm glad to hear that it makes the camera with an external flash much easier to handle partly because it solves the problem of the adapter casting a shadow.
