'Happy shooting!'

ALL I can say is WOW WOW WOW.....

Its Killing... HI ISO Colour, Dynamic Range.... NOISE.... all WOW....

Nikon is imporvings it's PR approach, I did not expect it to be this soon.

Phil does this mean the embargo for the Pre productions model been cancelled?

And thus does this imply that you can put original NEF's on your site taken with a D3?

Great high ISO performance and great colors, that ISO 6400 shot looks like my D2X at around 800, at least in the in focus areas.

Is this true? My image browser states noise reduction was set to "off" when those shots were made.... If that is the case, those pics are even more impressive!

High ISO NR is ON (Normal) for the pic_003b (iso6400) and pic_004b (iso3200), when I view the camera settings with VievNX

Thanks for that Ole.It must be my viewer not showing the correct info then... Still very impressive pics though.

the 6400 and 3200 images. Yes, the noise is relatively low for the ISO speed, but the quality and the colors look washed out and the skin tones are not beautiful in high ISO.

I like the ISO400 samples a lot, they have a creamy, beautiful look, generally people are way too obsessed with high ISO.

I have the Canon 5d and while it is said to be very low noise I try not to use it above ISO200. Why? Because of the beautiful creamy look in ISO 100.

For sport shooters it is good, pics dont need to be "creamy", but for normal photographers it is meaningless.

Not bad, but I don't think the processing on these is the best.
Look at the blown highlights in the pictures of the girl.

Lets hope Nikon posts some better examples.

I'm really excited about the D3. This is going to be great.

Well if I've read your post correctly, shooting at 3200 and 6400 doesn't look as good as ISO 400 - I really don't try to snap at posters normally but that's just plain ridiculus. you make absolutely no sense.
