iPod Touch

It's because of things like this that I dislike Apple as a company.
They make a lot of very good products, but I don't know why they so
very often are feeling this insecure and have to make up untrue
statements like this.

No, the iPod touch is NOT the first music player to have a browser
built in. Archos already have a few models with this feature, for
example.

Also, have they ran out of ideas for product names or something?
There already is a phone with this name currently on the market (HTC
Touch, ironically a phone running the latest version of the Windows
Mobile operating system), and then of course there is the Creative
Zen Touch, a music player from 2004.
Pretty amazing device
Well I think it's supposed to be a music player. I don't see why I
would want to have a touchscreen on a music player to be honest. It
just means that you need to look at the screen every time you want to
change a setting. At least with the scroll wheel, you can feel it and
change volume without looking.
That's why it's called touch and has a huge screen.............to look at it.

Sean,

Totally agree with you! 30GB is the bare minimum. 80GB+ would be more practical.

Creative makes fabulous players also. The Vision W looks great. With the 30GB model, it can hold

1) 10's of thousands of photos
2) 4.3" screen
3) 15,000 songs
4) Up to 240 hours of movies

These are just some of the features, not to include built in radio, voice recorder, and a removable battery!!!!!!!

what about the battery problem? since it is not user replaceable, you are forced to send the ipod to apple after the battery gone bad, and someone told me that Apple never fix these ipod they will swap you a used one or a window display model they will clean the case until it look like new, they will collect a large among of failed ipod and send to china for mass repair and do the case clean up, after that they will use these to swap with anyone that has a problem ipod.

another problem is that it must use with itune, that mean you can't just mount it as a harddisk and drag and drop some mp3 files, ipod will never play these file, and copying music or video files with itune is a one way direction, you can't copy back your files to your pc or mac what if your pc or mac has stolen? or what about the pc's harddisk dead? the last copies will only stay in your ipod

Why should Apple Not be proprietary, when it's competitors are; and,
You mean apart from the fact that it can hurt me, the consumer?
why, is it not proper for Apple, but okay for Nikon, Canon, Pentax,
Sony, Microsoft and just about all other companies on this planet ???
Who said it was "okay" for the others? Not I! :)

All I would say is that Apple makes out to be Good, but in fact does
many of the nasty things that Microsoft did at the height of its
monopoly (bundling, lock-in, vaporware, etc). Of course Apple is not
a monopoly, and that makes all the difference. And they are better
than many on that list of yours.

Just my 2¢.
xandxor:

And, you believe you know something about, "makes out to be good", "proprietary", "monopoly", "lock-in", and "nasty things", :-)
