R6 light scattering in long exposures

Hi, I've recently bought a R6 and so far am very impressed with it's capabilities.

However, when I shoot long time exposures with very dark backgrounds, there's always a white haze on the upper left corner of the image.

At first I thought it's just light scattering from somewhere into the lens. But I tried it in a completly dark room afterwards, with different lenses - and still.

At ISO64 and 8 seconds you can barely see it. Thats ok.

At ISO400 and 8s it already ruins the whole picture, if the background is black sky.
And for testing purposes: At ISO1600, 8s it becomes really obvious.

Do I just expect too much from my small R6 in such extreme conditions or is mine broken? Does anyone know?

Thanks!

No one?

I also discovered that my R6 shows LOTS of hot pixels especially in 8s and 1s shots. Maybe the two problems are somehow connected and the sensor is faulty?

After 10 days of playing around with the R6 I have finally come to really, really like it. After lots of sometimes dissappointing test shots I took it into real life and there suddenly found it to be truly amazing. Image quality might be mediocre (from excellent in bright light to quite bad in low light). Flash, lens aperture, IS and (sometimes) responsiveness might be mediocre. But the lens with its 28-200mm and macro-mode paired with the unbelievable small and light body is just amazing! It gives me the freedom to shoot pictures like with no other camera around (afaik). I found myself climbing around my motives or trying to get the camera in truly awkward positions to discover the most interesting image composition again. It's so much more fun than just checking the image quality of every picture at 200% magnification all the time :) And the results are just amazing, even if some of the pictures have hot pixels or a little noise. After that experience I just dont care anymore.

If only I knew if my cameras sensor is faulty. I have three days left to send it back and get a new one, which then maybe wouldnt even have the low light quirks.

Would be really great if maybe I had some quick test shots with ISO1600, 8s with the lens totally covered to compare if other R6s show the same "haze" in any corner.

Im sorry, I dont know how to do this. Im asked for the URL of the images, which I dont have.

Imagine a black picture (with lots of noise) and on the left margin the noise suddenly increases. Especially in one corner. Looks like a tiny amount of stray light that got into the lens somehow.

Really: If your cam would show the same haze at 8seconds, ISO1600 it would be quite obvious to you. You can already see it on the screen of the camera.

Ah, you have just made the important transition from pixel peeper to photographer. What you have discovered is what many of us found when we bought a Ricoh, and the results are in the amazing prints that you get back from your holidays and trips etc.

Thanks for the reply! Now Im assured there's nothing wrong with it. Im going to keep it. Yes!

I think it's actually a great idea to wait 12 months and when neccessary then maybe use this as a reason for warranty.
