All the stairs to...

Hi Robert! Really happy you enoyed them so much. As for the distortion I wish I could change that...I use a G2 , plus sometimes it is hard to find the right angle. In #3 I held my camera above my head and shot ...Thanks for commenting ...I appreciate it!

Great series here...old stairs in rickety structures are such a
great subject, and you captured them well. There's some
perspective distortion in these shots, which is to be expected, but
in a few cases, it adds to the charm (particularly for the third
image below). The ones below are my faves.

Thanks for sharing these!

HI John! Thank so much for your comments...I too think about the people who lived in these places...You can almost here echos...

jo,

Great subject. You have captured an interesting feature of homes.
While looking at these I thought a lot about the hopes and dreams
lost here. Thanks for sharing and excellent job.

Wow, Joann, great idea. They tell a nice story. I really like that third one. You can just about see and hear the kids runing down the stairs on Chrmistmas morning. There's a bit of sadness here....

Nicely done,

Jim

I've been lurking quite a bit lately.. following but perhaps not always having time to comment.. You live is a quiet remarkable area and your photography illustrates that so well..

I really love these.. yeah I can almost hear the echoing footsteps and voices long past.. Very special..

Thanks,
Jody

Joann,

Your abandoned houses are wonderful and being a person who really likes stairs myself, I REALLY appreciate these!

If you're interested, here's a link to my stair study...quite different from yours! http://www.pbase.com/cokids/framed (Mine also includes doors and windows, I think.)

Anyway, the shots with the snowy stairs are just heartbreaking! I can't help thinking of the history these houses have..the families who grew here and then left...the 'ghosts' that lurk in desserted spaces.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Go

I'm feeling alread almost at home there from previouse posts and admired all of them in greater depth this time around. Beautiful exploration of an old building to its finest details

thanks--Ruvy

joann, from a fellow Albertan, I loved the photos. Both my Granparents homesteaded near Mirror, and often I drive by their old house, which is still standing. These bring back alot of memories as I have heard hundreds of stories about growing up in Central Alberta. I look forward to seeing more photos.

Hi joann,

You found yourself a site, you can easily shoot a couple of hundreds more.

As it gives you so many angles to get a view on the interesting angles in the building and the stair.

Of this series I do like the 5th the most, but like to say I didn't dislike the others.

Culd you please post the link to the gallery on Pbase you posted your images, as having kind of overview in the tumbnails, I realy do like to have.

Comparing photographs screen afther screen is much harder than to have the possibilty to look at a couple of tumbnails, to open the real photograph, go back to the tumbnails and so on,

jacques.

Way to go joann! I like these the best with the sun shining on the weathered wood framing the stairs. Kim

Joann,

It appears we have something in common. Your passion for the old homes and homesteads are similiar to mine. I love the old barns and farmhouses, all of which are vanishing entirely too fast.

It's people like you that find photogenic ways to preserve the character of these places. You have again done an outstanding job in capturing their beauty. You can almost see the life that once existed there.
Thanks for sharing......
