My Epson 880 died out and I bought this 785Epx. Well after almost a cartdrige and a box of epson PGPP paper later, I still can't get the colours straight. My system is calibrated and it's working smoothly with the 880. Everything looks heavily magenta shifted. Oddly enough if I feed premium glossy paper and say to the printer that it's heavymatte the colors are almost bang on, but resolution is poor. I'm using Adobe 6 and the pictures were scanned using Nikon coolscan IV in Adobe 1998 profile. I print using Print color management. The way I managed to get closer to what the colors should be was by fine tuning with -20M, +10Y, +10contrast. However, although everything looks fine, shadows are greenish. I've probably tried every single combination of printer settings with no one being bang on. Any advice? Is this printer always like that or I have a lemon?
Thx, Herbet.

My experiences have been with the 1270 and 2000p printers. The latter did not work well with automatic settings for the various papers. My solution was to buy MonacoEZcolor and make custom profiles for both printers. This is not a difficult thing to do, and it really solved the 2000P problem. Of course, the Monaco program costs $200, but I have found that it is well worth the investment.

I had color issues with the 1270 and 1280, same as you. My older 600 and 750 both printed great. I "solved" my problem by buying an older 1200. Epson doesn't get any points from me for their answer: your system isn't properly calibrated, we have a $ off coupon in the package for the $300 software you should use.
