Which may prove that with all this modern automatic equipment, we have finally gone too far. We've made a camera "So simple a cave man can do it!" Er, a Meerkat.

Just kidding!! Seriously, did it say whether the meerkat just kept the camera on "P" or did it use one of the scene modes?

I just ran the image through my bionic pixel-peeper-ometer and blew it up to a 400% crop (by the way, those are some real ugly pixels on that Canon sensor). Wouldn't you know but you can clearly see that the meerkat has the camera set on "M."

I wonder if he chimped after shooting the images?

"It is believed the shutter button was pressed by adult alpha male Monty, who usually leads the mob of eight when exploring new objects."
So the question is How many Meerkats it takes to operate a Cannon Camera?

Answer: 8 , one to press the shutter and 7 to get it in focus!, ..ok it's just a joke Canonites folks

Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Bob Dylan

It's fake because the camera on the photos is NOT digital, but in text they've written about "pictures on memory card"..

canonites always make fakes :(

It's the famous Canon kit lenses.

excellent Louis - great find

I would add to the already excellent observations that even Cannon's multipul focus points don't guarantee the subject will be in focus!

Correct. The camera is an EOS 650 or 600, one of the first bodies with the EF bayonet. Digital imaging was still far, far away.

Well, as they say in journalism: never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Cheers!
