An interesting and thought provoking selection, Jo.
You have to be brave to step into some of these places.

Great series, Jo.

It's always nice to see a series of photos on a subject and yours look great. I especially like the first picture. Usually when you go through a door you go outside or inside. Here it's hard to decide whether the stairs are inside or outside. Great stuff.

Kind regards,
Hans

Hi Joann,

I enjoyed looking at this nice set of images. There seem to be a large number of these abandoned houses in your area. I don't think they would remain empty in NYC.

Hi Steve1 I am always careful I always take my cell phone with me and don't even venture in a place where the floor is looking shaky. Thanks Steve ...lousy weather I'm having here...snowing and blowing again...will it ever end?

Hi Hans. All the stairs are inside of buildings. Some of the buildings have no windows and or roofs. so the snow drifts in. thanks a lot...

Hi Stan. Most of these are far from the towns and so no one wants to live in them. Glad you enjoyed them...thanks

I really like these, Joann, especially the second one where the stairs take a diagonal path across the frame. The dichotomy produced by the warmth of the wood and the chill of the snow give this photo a kind of latent energy.Very nice !

jo,

Great series here...old stairs in rickety structures are such a great subject, and you captured them well. There's some perspective distortion in these shots, which is to be expected, but in a few cases, it adds to the charm (particularly for the third image below). The ones below are my faves.

Thanks for sharing these!

Great idea and well executed Jo - look forward to more from the Homestead series...

jo,

Great subject. You have captured an interesting feature of homes. While looking at these I thought a lot about the hopes and dreams lost here. Thanks for sharing and excellent job.

stairs - what a great series! You've captured them very well - if they could talk, what stories would they tell? I enjoyed these very much, thanks for sharing them.
