D60 Nature Snapshots...

Hi Tony

The D60 certainly appears to produce very natural colours in the camera without PS intervention- Wheras the D30's iamges streight from the camera are duller and generally require some correction in PS. As I said in replky to a previous thread- I am not myself in the market for a D60 as I am well pleased with my D30 purchased last July but of course I am interested to see what improvements Canon have made in the D30 upgrade to the D60.

You may not like nature subjects, but you have produced a very colouful set of images which are well exposed and you have a good eye for a subject. Keep at it and I hope you enjopy your new purchase as much I have enjoyed my D30 over the last 8 months of shooting- I take picture with it every day- even though they maybe mundane subjects, just to get experience of shooting in all lighting situations and making adjustments to the way I setup the custom white balance etc- There is always something new to learn with these cameras and that is why this forum and others like it dealing with the D30 and D60 are so important.

I have posted a few more D60 shots.

All of these are straight out of the camera!

ISO = 100
Parameters = Standard
Lens = EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

I am not a strong nature photographer - these are mostly snapshots
just so you can compare sharpness, metering, colour etc.

Have fun!

Haven't been able to view your latest shots because the server is a bit overloaded but just wanted to say well done on posting them unretouched. I never retouch any of my stuff because :

1) I can't be bothered.

2) If I need to mess with it that much is it really a photograph ? Why not then just copy something and retouch that and save the cost of hardware ?
3) My stuff is allcrap and no amount of retouching would improve it.

Tony, I forgot to ask you about the location where you've taken these beautiful pictures. So, where is it?

Thanks,
Alex.

Thank you for the kind words Roger... I will keep at it. One of these days I'll buy myself a tripod and good wide-angle lens (I found the 50mm a bit limited at it equates to 80mm on the D60).

I think your advice on experimenting with different settings is good. One of the reasons I like digital so much is that I can go out for a day and take hundreds of experimental shots just to get to know the camera and lenses.

Thanks,

Tony

Kind of made me feel a bit homesick for when I lived in Half Moon Bay (before things got out of hand with the growth in the Bay Area). But now I live by the Mountains and that ain't so bad........

I love the coastal fog shot. Not only because I love coastal fog (smile) but because it's not at all mushy; very real and makes me drool. That plus taking some rolls to be developed today. I WANT MY D60 NOW! :
